I had it the other way, after I first watched it live I thought Penn won the fight pretty much because of damage control. But after watching it a couple times I give GSP the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
And Palma I didn't mean manhandled as in owning him, I meant manhandled as in taking him down and keeping him down, like I said before.

That to me is why I thought Penn should have won the decision, but I figured since he was on his back the judges still will give it to GSP. Pretty lame indeed.

To me that isn't very impressive. GSP took him down but Penn is comfortable on his back and had no reason to escape. I think GSP has the win but Penn walked away the better fighter.

I wouldn't call GSP's BJJ too skilled, he's very well rounded with good gameplans and if he has a hole it's in his BJJ.

IMO GSP could win a rematch with Penn, the major reason why GSP was so bang up in there first fight is because Penn pocked him in the eye and he did the uppercut that broke his nose after that. If I remember Penn cought Hughes in the eye in there rematch too. I'm not saying that Penn is a dirty fighter but when you see your opponent in double it's very though to fight.
Plus if GSP and Penn fight again it could be a 5 round match, GSP is a cardio machine and BJ gass after 3 round so GSP could easly win the rematch.

As far as Sanchez vs GSP goes, Sanchez won too many close decision to fighters that GSP could destroy or win a easy unanimous decision (Karo, Diaz, Alessio). Plus if Hughes was not able to put GSP on the ground, I'm sorry but Diego won't put GSP on the ground and Diego's stand up is no match to GSP. Simple math here !!!!

The only treat to GSP is at 185 where guys cut down like 20 pounds, too big for GSP IMO.

the sad thing is, the best fighters fight each other only once every year or two, or three even, and sometimes don't fight the best in between those layoffs. there should be a best of three when a fight goes to a decision like the gsp/penn. sylvia/arlovski 3 happened pretty fast after the second one. some guys may not lose a step between the years, they may get better or whatever between that time or they might get worn out from fighting too much. either way, it sucks waiting for 2 years or longer to watch a rematch.

Honestly this has been done to death many times. Smoogy saying BJ won the third round is the only time Iv'e seen someone say which of the two last rounds BJ won. I've asked several people on other occassions which rounds BJ won and no one ever responded. I'm not going to put in my opinion but i suggest that from now on anyone arguing about BJ vs GSP be banned.

I'm going to go with bas rutten's opinion on this....BJ Penn is one of, if not the best P4P fighter today.

If BJ and GSP fight 10 times, they split those fights right down the middle more or less, one or two of those fights conveivably being draws. GSP won the first fight, IMO, but that's not to say he's a lock to win any future fights with BJ. Getting to the point, should GSP/Penn II happen (and it will, this is a rematch that must be made, more so than any other rematch this side of the GSP/Hughes and Penn/Hughes rubber matches), both men better bring their A++ games; anything less puts them on the wrong side of the win column.
