From the UFC press release on this fight:
Quote:
|
Jackson (26-6), fighting out of Irvine, Calif., is known and respected for his raw strength, power slams and equal striking ability. He marched into the UFC in February and blazed his way through his first challenger – Marvin Eastman – by stopping him with a TKO in the second round. When he returned to the UFC, he came with a motive and a plan to capture the UFC light heavyweight crown, and now his dream rematch with the reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has come true. Confident that he can handle the “Iceman” and take him out a second time, “Rampage” is ready to do battle in the Octagon and walk out with the light heavyweight belt.

Made me LOL. They refuse to mention he is a top PRIDE light heavyweight, but revising history so that he is a "returning" UFC fighter is A-OK!

It is funny; but it's not like UFC is the only org that does it or that this is something for which they are singling out Jackson.
The last couple years Rogan/Goldberg have routinely used the phrase "in Japan" when referring to someone who was in Pride, and Trigg when announcing for Pride routinely used the phrase "other organizations" in a context in which he's clearly referring to the UFC.

Sounds like ur having doubts Afro lol.
Anyways this was probably 1 of if not the best Rampage interview I've read in some time as he gives a complete background to his start in MMA and his beef with Pride as well as thoughts on fighters, mainly Liddell.

Who wouldnt have doubts? I got faith in Page but its not like hes fighting someone who hasnt been dominate for the past 3 years, this is like a superbowl man, no guarantees that the better team will win.

Yeah a superbowl that we may get to see twice since you can bet they will milk this for all its worth and give a Chuck/Rampage 3.
