5-year plan for UFC
I know that several weeks ago there was a "what do you see happening to the UFC in the next 5 years" but I'm hoping this will be understood to be a slightly different topic...
In a recent interview (I think it was right after UFC68), Dana said something like "the Fertittas and I have put our heads together, we know what we'd like to accomplish in the next 5 years...".
I think we'd all agree that the Zuffa era of UFC has been managed extremely well and that Dana and the Fertittas know their shit. So my open question here is, what-all do you think that 5-year plan consists of?
My thoughts:
1 - Continue acquiring top names from whatever organization; promote and build up title fights with them
2 - Sign a long-term deal with Spike and potentially an ESPN or Fox
3 - Purchase Pride if they perceive it's possible to do so
3a If Pride is purchased, greatly improve its marketing in the US to build it up here
3b If Pride is purchased, arrange annual or semi-annual "supermatches" between Pride and UFC; build these matchups over during the course of the year or 6 months
4 - Continue to expand internationally, both with shows abroad and media presence abroad (would be more successful if Pride were acquired since most UFC fighters are still Americans)
These are some of the ideas that come right to mind...interested to see what "objectives"/targets you guys think are included in their 5-year plan.
I'm interested especially to hear your speculation on TUF - will it continue, will it evolve to something different, will something replace it - as well as TV contracts.
