yes the werdum fight will definetly be more well matched, to the ufc people aa is big and they think that cc is big too, but dont realize that they are on different levels, but the werdum fight will be very interesting, i honestly think that aa can beat him standing and possilbe get a ko, but he could get subed as well, too hard to tell cause we really havent seen any common opponents.

I think a lot of you guys underestimate AA's ground game. When you have a sub game your sub defense obviously gets better. Werdum is a hoss though. I still don't see AA getting submitted by him.
AA by decision.

Arlovski's fought whoever the UFC's put in front of him, and with the exception of the last 2 Sylvia fights, he's done very well. True, the people's he's beaten aren't anywhere near as impressive as those CroCop's beaten, but that's not his fault. From what I hear, a fairly green Arlovski did quite well against Pedro Rizzo and Ricco Rodriguez when they were still near the top of their respective games, and was also the first person to knock out the well-respected Vladimir Matyushenko. He also stopped the previously unstopped Cabbage, and really showed what he could do when he trashed Sylvia, Eilers, and Buentello in short order. He's still a fairly young guy, and a fight against CroCop is about the equivalent of Diego Sanchez getting a chance to fight any one of St. Pierre, Hughes, or Penn. It's a step up fight really, Arlovski against Werdum right now, then against CroCop. Arlovski's got the talent, the physical tools, to become a big star (if not the chin), and he's arguably the second-best striker right now in the UFC HW division (with due respect to Kongo and Hardonk). We wanna see AA test himself against CroCop, and most of us think he'll do well, though it'll be in a losing effort most likely.

I do not thing AA is a slouch by any means and yeah Cro Cop's resume looks way more impressive. AA hasnt even had as many opportunities as Cro Cop has had so that is in a way unfair to judge like that as well. He is still pretty young and has lots of room for more improvement. I still say Cro COp would take it but u just never know, AA is no slouch in striking and he is a sambo master. Let's see how he does against Werdum first and then make a better judgement.

Yeah this is assuming AA beat Werdum (50-50 imo) and assuming Couture doesn't shock the world against CC (bout 10% imo) but I think it would be a very good fight. You know AA and CC will wanna keep it standing (AA is a Sambo Master but he doesn't utilize it much), and it's always a great fight when the 2 best strikers in UFC HW go toe-to-toe. I do think AA is overrated as of now, but I think his skillset is obviously topnotch, and he's always having entertaining fights which lead people to overrate him. But he's ranked based on potential as much as the people he's beaten. AA would have a much better chance of beating CC than Werdum would though imo.

I was pumped about the possibility too until I looked a little deeper. He will get a nice test against Werdum though and maybe he'll dominate and silence me and his other critics. I'm actually looking forward to this fight. I'd still love to see him fight Mark Hunt, Aleksander E, or Barnett.....
At least there's intrigue......
by the way, any boxing fans here? I was a total boxing junkie for years, but MMA is where it's at. Boxing is flat out boring these days IMO. So many bull$hit decisions and questionable (fixed?) endings I'm over it....I hope that kind of corruption doesn't seep into MMA....
