Yeah Penn haters are funny.

It is obvious that BJ can hang with the top at WW, since he went to a split with GSP and is 1-1 with Hughes. Isn't that enough? Who cares if he lost 3 out of 4.

His record of 10-4-1 has almost all big names in MMA on it. Only 2 fighters aren'tin the top echelon of MMA.

The guy fights the best. Randy does the same thing and I don't hear a bunch of Randy haters out there.

All I have to say is BJ is one of my favorite fighters. But people love BJ no matter what the results are and gives all kinds of excuses. And how do you know he didn't get those injuries directly from the fight? If he did then he lost fair and square. And how do you know it wasn't just an excuse and wasn't really injured. Not saying he wasn't but his camp could have lied. I love the guy but he hasn't won in a awhile. It's like the opposite of Tim Silvia. People hate Tim even when he wins. The opposite is happening to BJ. BJ vs Wandy? Are you kidding me? Mismatch of the century!

BJ haters? Not too many people hate BJ from what I've seen. Just that people are stating the case that there are too many BJ LOVERS that can't see the truth. In fact, all these guys including myself love BJ. No haters here.

No you can't ignore fact. But it is being an apologist because there's always an asterisk next to his losses according to Penn supportists. Well B.J hangs with Tony Desouza and they have that additude of being able to hold there own with anyone in this world....I know BJ wants to stay at WW, but figured at Tony winning at WW and him as LW...but as you can see Tony was beat by Alves...Think about it, his change to LW was made up months and months ago....IMO

i wouldnt look at the hughes fight as an excuse. the guy got hurt. shit happens. more of a reason than an excuse. ppl fail to realize that Penn RAN A CLINIC on hughes for the first 2 rounds. as for the GSP fight one of Penns problems have been not finishing fights and letting them go to the judges

At LW Penn is the hands down number 1 fighter in the world. If he stayed down there the only fighter that would give him a match is Sherk and he should still win that one. I mean Sherk is not an easy match-up for him, but he should still win that fight most of the time.

As for WW he is 1-2 in the weightclass. His last win there was over Hughes nearly 3 years ago. He has a lot tougher fights here too. GSP still has not reached his prime and has already beat him. Karo has not reached his prime and his style would give Penn all types of troubles. Plus Fitch, Kos, and Sanchez would not be very easy match-ups for him either in furture years.

WW is a weightclass were I doubt he will be able to capture the title again. Were as at LW he could win the title and possibly hold it for years. Therefore its a dumb decision for him to move back up to WW.

Yea, I just googled the rib injury, found a medicial report.

And Penn's problem has not been finishing fights, its been having good enough cardio to win the later rounds. Maybe he should focus more time on training and less on surfing.

Hughes took Penn down. Penn himself said that Hughes elbows were causing him serious concern. So he used a sweep from the full gaurd that BJJ grapplers normally reserve for the halfgaurd. Hence the injury.
