I really hate the gap between the lesser fighters and top fighters. Jeez 3k is nothing. I hope it gets sorted out but I won't hold my breath - just supply and demand I suppose. That doesn't make it ethical though.

franklin signed a 8 fight contract with ufc before he fought shamrock, shamrock might have been his 2nd fight on his new contract so he will be renewing very soon, im sure he will get a ko/tko bonus, share of the ppv, and sponcers so im sure he brought a nice chunck of change home, plus i think when he renews he will be getting probally 100,000 base pay or more

of course hughes got a lot, he is the most dominant ww champ in history and he is still one of the top guys in his division. hughes defended his title what like 9 times? Franklin defended his 3 i think. i kno he is one of the posterboys for the ufc, and was one of the guys they hyped up like crazy, but he still isnt a guranteed hall of famer (its definitely possible, just not guranteed like it is for guys like hughes and liddell)
look at the current mw champ, silva. he only made $33000 last ppv (then he also got the $33000 win bonus, but thats besides the point). Franklin just made more than him and Silva is the champ.

I'm pretty sure all the fighters work similarly hard. To use your general analogy, do most millionaires work far harder than say a janitor? No. Some do for sure, but often a blue collar will work harder for longer hours.
Also, it aint only about hard work - there's how you look, who you know, and your inherant talent also.
Basically, I think suggesting a professional fighter that gets paid 3k a fight has 'gotta work' is pretty far off the mark man. I'm not complaining that there's a gap, just the scale of it.

This is also considered work. Stress level is work, missing home while out on interviews, promoting...all is stress. The Janitor may work for 8 hours a day harder...but an executive is constantly working, Chuck Liddell for example is a UFC Executive...a player.
Anyways fabrics of our society...

I'm suprised Kampmann made as much as he did. Especially for a guy that was supposed to be cannon fodder for Bisping a few months ago.
