anyone knows where he is? i was just looking fwd for him to smack those heavyweights.. except randy. how about vera vs mirko!? huh!!!???????

I heard he move to elite xc....because they offerd him a big cash $$$.

I would of thought by now everyone would of known the answer to this by now seeing that there is a thread started on this topic every other day lol. Seeing that u are a new member I suppose I wont give u a hard time though bro. Vera has 1 fight left on his contract and is wanting a lot more money to resign another contract. The UFC is not going to grant Vera his wishes when Vera has yet to really even prove himself. There are more deserving fighters in line.

EliteXc offered him some huge money($1.5Mill signing bonus plus atleast 200 grand per fight [I've heard more though]) and the UFC refused to match it because they feel Vera isn't worth that much. So he has one fight left in the UFC and then he will more than likely be going to EXC.

makes sence now that vera has some real competition in the hw division....that he'll flee. he ran his mouth big time, now he's no where to be found. for his last fight.....the ufc will probably just throw a can at him and let him go.

the UFC won't throw anyone at him until the PPV right before his contract expires. Even then it will be a can and the fight will be on the undercard with absolutely no promotion whatsoever.

Rumor has it that he is going to fight Jake O'Brien. I'm not sure at what event though, but I guess they are thinking if Jake wins they can use that as a stepping stone and send Vera packing.

I hear Jake O'Brien. There was a chatter about having Herring fight him as well. I would like to see Herring/Vera.

That contract and signing bonus are nice to begin with...but he could have made so much more by sticking with the UFC in the long run. Think about it. Let's say he really is the real deal and becomes a big star in the HW division. He's a charismatic guy with an exciting fight style, is technically proficient, won't shy away from the spotlight, and always has something to say. He could have parlayed that into added fame and credibility, which in turn becomes sponsorships and money by way of advertising. Especially now, when the UFC is finally starting to hit the real big time, when Chuck Liddell is making it into Sports Illustrated, when MMA guys are showing up on non-sports related TV, Vera's starpower could have brought him much fame and money. Him going to Elite XC almost seems like he's playing it safe. Take the sure money now instead of taking a risk and make a lot more down the road. Vera vs. Couture, Vera vs. CroCop, Vera vs. Arlovski are all huge fights in the HW division, hell even Vera vs. Sylvia would have been a big fight to make great money on and earn cred.
