Default How would you rate ufc 68?

Now that ufc 68 is over how would you rate the ppv? ufc production is normally top notch. last night the sound was off quite a bit. Also I only got to see 5 fights on the ppv. Normally they show some fights after the main event instead goldberg said you can go to ufc on demand to watch them. (dont you have to pay for that?)
obviously the randy and tim fight made up for only having 5 fights. And with matt and franklin winning it looks like another year of rematches.

Overall I'd say I was impressed... the fights were MUCH more competitive than I'd expected. Plus, it's impossible to dislike a PPV where Sylvia gets his shit pushed in for 5 rounds by Randy...

Glad I went to the bar for it.

It was maybe like a C up until the Randy fight, which put it up to about a solid B. The only complaint I have is the extremley one-sided annouching by Joe and Mike. They didn't seem to give Chris or Jason any credit what so ever. I can understand they want to hype their golden boys in the comeback fights but it got a little out of hand. At one point I said to my friends "I wish they would take it easy on the Rich loving" and no sooner had I said that, Goldey screams out " RICH FRANKLIN HAS GOT THE MOUNT!!!!!" as if he had just won the fight or something.

It was a little lame. Especially after seeing Pride last week. I missed the first televised fight though (Babalu-Lambert) and I heard it was a good one.
Hughes didn't have much to show, sure he dominated but what did he do with it? Franklin impressed more, defending takedowns well and scoring with solid punches but McDonald's limitations were obvious, very one sided fight. Kampmann fight was good, very neat submission and a nice change of strategy. As for Silvia-Couture - boring fight. Sure, I was happy to see Silvia lose but after that knockdown right at the beginning of Rnd 1 I was expecting an exciting finish. Instead Tim was allowed to lay on top of Randy for the remaining 4.5 minutes... Why? McCarthy stood 'em up for no reason in latter rounds why not in the first? Randy sure wasn't doing anything and Tim was just recovering from the punch. I was surprised to see how easy Sylvia was taken down though. He looked intimidated after the 1st round. I guess he was finally exposed for being the Sapp of UFC (obviously more skilled than Bob but still relying mainly on his size)
Joe Rogan sucked, he can be entertaining at times but that night he just kept repeating his usual phrazes and kept saying some annoying things.

I'd rate the whole event a C+

Well its not every day that a fighter retires (especially at the ripe old age of 43) and comes back to not only dominate the fight, but win the title as well. It would have been different if Couture finished Sylvia after that first knockdown some 15 seconds into the first round, but since Sylvia was able to recover and the fight went the distance, it definently was worth the money. The undercard fights werent bad as well, which makes me give the PPV an overrall grade of B+

the whole event was decent except for the Couture vs Sylvia fight. but seriously where does Couture go from here.... i tell you where he goes! he goes on to become a sacrificial lamb who will kneel and present the HW title nice and polished for Cro Cop!!!
