Joe Rogan's comment on not standing the fights up
Agree or Disagree?
Believe it or not I thought Goldberg did a better job of commentating then Rogan did on this event, even though Goldberg still sucked he wasnt makin his usual mistakes but Rogan was making mistakes.. but the one thing he said that I couldnt agree with more is not standing the fights up
he had a DAMN Good point about it, oh make that two things.. kneeing a downed opponent.. couldnt be more correct about that either
thoughts?

I agree with both also. But with the way MMA is gaining popularity these days, I'm sure the referees are going to be instructed to stand fights up even moreso in the future.
Reason being, is that someone new to MMA will see a guy laying and praying and change the channel thus losing a possible new fan. Whereas, if they stand the guys up and let them fight it might keep their interest and actually get them to learn a little about MMA.
For people that all ready have knowledge of MMA and have watched it for years, we know that taking a guy down and maintaining that position is very important to most fighters. While it may be boring, it's also very important to some fighters strategy.

Who wants an MMA fan that can't respect all the areas of MMA. Let them change the fucking channel so I don't have to see their ignorant ass at Hooter's when I go next time. BTW Afro, what did Joe say about knees? I heard him talk about standing fights up and it was amazing but didn't hear the comment about knees. It was loud.

I agreed completely with Rogan. A fighter shouldn't be able to just grab his opponents hands/wrists and wait for the ref to stand them up. A fighter should have to try and find his own way out.
It's one thing if both guys are trying but neutralizing each other but when tyou just expect the ref to get you out of a bad situation, that's just bullshit.

He said why should a fighter be allowed to knee you standing and not knee you on the ground

I only agree in standing the fight up if the fighter is just laying on top and doing nothing. I was pissed off when john stood the fight up in the last minute of a round in the randy fight. while the other ref let hughes be on top for all 3 rounds without standing it up.

i agree with this also...if u can throw a knee standing, you should be able to throw a knee on the ground.......and if someone puts you on your back, dont count on the ref standing you up...bust your ass to get back to your feet...what im wondering now, is how can the ufc educate the newer fans with the ground game? i personally love it when a fight goes to the ground because I myself train jiu jitsu..what can be done to get the newer fans more fond of jiu jitsu/ground fighting?

yeah joe made a very good point about the knees on the ground, it just looks so unnatural to see someone openly presenting their head for a knee in a fight

If they are active, skilled ground fighters (Diego, Diaz, Penn, GSP) it'll have its own appeal to them or it simply won't.
But if it's LNP, like Koscheck, or Hughes last night which was a few notches above LNP - very methodical - I'm not sure how you "make" that interesting to anyone.
