not too many fights have pumped me up so much. some include:

Fedor Emelianenko vs Cro Cop
Cro Cop vs Big Nog
Big Nog vs Josh Barnett I and II
Sergei Kharitonov vs Big Nog
Chuck Liddell vs Randy Couture I

and now this

Randy Couture vs Tim Sylvia

my honest prediction was a "lucky" submission win over Tim Sylvia, but wow was i wrong.

did anyone actually predict a total domination? i knew Couture would win, but never imagined like this.

Randy never ceases to amaze.

I didn't predict total domination. I knew Randy would find a way, but boy am I impressed.

Look out L.A. marathon, your looking at inspired warrior. Too amp'd too sleep. I'ma check out the fight before I gotta go in 3 hrs.

I figured it would be a total mismatch in favor of Couture, and predicted a late round stoppage. What I didn't expect was a match with shades of Couture vs Liddell 1, where Couture was consistently getting the better of the stand-up despite the fact that his opponent had better reach (in theory) and more power (though Sylvia's handspeed disappeared midway through). I was frustrated how Sylvia did little on the ground but trap Couture sometimes, he just looked like he was trying to find a way out of the cage near the end.

Finally, I'm glad Sylvia trashed his image further by bringing up an injury in the post-fight chat. hopefully his next match will be against a top flight HW like Werdum or CroCop.

Randy Couture is my hero! What a fight. That was just pure domination. He was outboxing Tim and taking him down at will. Unbelievable. Randy vs. Cro Cop should be good.

Well, being honest, I fully expected either an early (second round or earlier) Sylvia KO win, or a Randy unanimous (and probably all 5 rounds) win. Of those two I thought the Randy win was somewhat more likely.

Given the way these two match up, those were the only two results I thought likely; all other results seemed a lot less likely.

I didn't know what to expect - I figured a best case scenario would have him working in tight and maybe scoring with some gnp.

The way he caught Silvia on the chin early on, then dominated the stand up really reminded me of that first fight with Belfort.

The amazing thing was THAT fight (nearly ten years ago) was considered a huge upset. So what's that make this one? The guy's incredible!
