Matt Hughes
I really enjoyed UFC 68 (The Randy fight left me jumping for joy and my heart pounding) but the Hughes fight left me yelling "STAND THEM UP!" Don't get me wrong, I'm a grappler myself and believe in letting it go on the ground, but the Hughes fight was ridiculous. Hughers not only showed that his best days are behind him but he wasn't even able to finish. He took lay and pray to a new level. I couldn't believe that the ref let Hughes work on the ground for 4 1/2 min, without doing anything. I don't like Hughes, but I alwaysd give respect when its due. Hughes, though, gets no respect for not being able to finish a C level fighter. The Hughes that showed up tonight would get absolutly wrecked by GSP in a rematch. what are your thoguhts on Hughes performance?

I wasn't impressed, but after he lost to penn, he fought verisomo (however you spell it) and won by unanimous decision; I think it was 29-28 all across. Then he went on a winning streak.

I wasn't impressed at all. The GSP fight was fresh in my mind...I forgot how Hughes normally fights. He was trying to get that arm down the whole time and really played it safe. When he sticks just to wrestling like he did, I really could care less about seeing him fight. Yes, he wins, but it's the same deal all the time. It gets old.

Matt Hughes fight...yawn...
That lnp b.s. should have been stood up a half-dozen time! Most be nice to be the ex-champ...
If he thinks what he had 2nite is going to be good enough to unseat GSP...he needs to go back to the lab.
Glad to see him get the "W" though because I do believe he deserves a re-match and a chance to prove to himself if he still has what it takes.

I'm sure Hughes sees that fight as a loss in his mind. He certainly went back to his roots to win that fight.. He wrestled his guy down and did nothing. I was more impressed with Lytle's armbar attempt than anything Matt tried to do.
No disrespect to Hughes, hes great and I hope he goes back to his dominant ways.

and who was that ref in the fight? I've never seen him before in any of the major fighting leagues. He really needs to take a strong look at how Big John refs a fight and not be afraid to stand up a stale fight.

Last night I thought Franklin did what he said he would do, Hughes didn't deliver to the extent that he said he would, Randy....well dominated and delivered a classic fight

Give Lytle a little credit for being a good fighter and making Hughes work.
