The Big Secret?
When i'm looking through the threads i've noticed an obvious Pride bias. I have no preference between UFC and Pride, I think both are extremely entertaining, and all of the fighters deserve respect. I've seen posts where people are saying UFC Champ Liddell is around #5 in the LHW division (Wandy, Shogun, Arona, Rampage, and even Overeem) ahead of him according to some people. Tim Sylvia is the most disrespected fighter in the world, and I doubt many Pride fans would even put him in their Top 10. I've even seen Pride fans dogging Sylvia for being a drug user, and 'roid rager, which brings me to my point. I have never once seen it mentioned that Pride doesn't drug test, which surprises me. Obviously if fighters are equally talented to start with, and add supplements they're going to be the better fighters. I'm not saying I know that anybody is using, and i'm not accusing, but I would say that it is highly possible (Randleman fought for a while obviously using after being suspended by UFC for failing a test). Barnett failed a test and now is fighting in Pride, I guess it would be mighty nice to assume he quit. I love watching Pride but I think comparing them with UFC is unfair, with this obvious difference in fight rules.

Pride doesn't test its fighters, neither does the UFC. It's done indepdantly of either organization. Events hosted in the USA by either organization result in having their fighters tested. In Japan, as far as I know, testing isn't mandatory.
That being said. I respect any fighter who steps into the ring or octagon willing to throw down. I respect them for doing that, I don't have to respect their style or their personality. That doesn't mean I have no respect for them. I believe you can disrespect parts of an MMA fighter, without denying the fundamental truth that it takes balls and courage to get in there and throw down. Respect in MMA is a double edged sword, you start off with it in my opinion, but to have it grow, you need to earn that.
Sylvia gets dogged for being a sloppy fighter in a paper thin division. He gets dogged for having an unjustified ego, for acting like a kid, for making retarded statements about other fighters, and the list goes on. I think everyone still respects the fact that he will go out and fight anyone the UFC puts in front of him.
I love MMA, I love great fights. I don't care which organization shows me them, Pride just happens to show a higher calibre of fights, more often.

Preaching to the choir bro. Someone makes this same exact thread/post every few days. There are gonna be ppl that like pride more and some that like UFC more. And all that is fine but at least be respectful and back your claims/posts. It's the ignorant ones that are annoying saying shit like Tim Sylvia is gonna put Cro Cop and Fedor to sleep. Making a stupid post like that with nothing to even back that claim with just makes you a joke and a target of flaming.

For the record, I see the pride steroid thing come up easily 10-15 times a week here. I am just a lurker.

There is some Pride bias to an extent. However, in last few weeks I have noticed that some of the regular posters here that have had a Pride bias have lightened up about it and have started giving the UFC more credit.

I'm new but I've yet to see anything mention it. If so that's my fault, but i'm just saying that Pride can't be compared to UFC because it's not a balanced playing field. I do love both though, and respect every fighter that has the balls to step in the ring/octagon. I actually heard that Wandy and Liddell's fight got cancelled because of the drug testing, then Wandy turns in a bad performance and got dropped by Hendo (i've heard all of the sick stories) in a fight in the States with a drug test.... coincidence? I am biased though and will admit that I hate Wandy. I respect his skills but don't like him at all.

mad disrespect. i hate this org vs org thing, just pay attention to the fighter goddamnit. i understand if you prefer watching fights in a certain organization over another, i mean i prefer watching the ufc over pride probably because I was exposed to it first. but sheesh i feel excited at both crocop fighting in the ufc and diaz fighting in pride. just support both people
