There are plenty of A level fighters who will never be champion. So you argument does nothing to disprove Diegos talent. He is a top 5 WW fighter in the world and I would not be surprised to see him hold the belt one day. In addition, calling him a fruit cake is just gay.

Sanchez definatly has a chance to be WW champ. I hope not. But to doubt the guy's fighting skill is just stupid.

lnp was koscheck vs fickett. diego took diaz down and was constantly working effectively. diego beat diaz up in the clinch. did u take a look at their faces afterwards? diego had one cut over his eye, whereas diaz had scratches all over his face, cut on the forehead, big mouse under his left eye. diego dominated him. he also beat karo decisively - watch the third round where karo gets his ass handed to him - and knocked out Joe Riggs.

Ok, let me repost what I posted in another thread, which you either didn't see or chose not to respond to - but if it's the latter I'm gonna put it on you again.

This post was inspired by folks such as yourself with this bogus and decidedly partisan view of the Diego-Diaz fight

Ok, three five-minute rounds. 10-point must system, each round is judged on its own. UFC fights, for those of you who may not know, are judged based on effective striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control.

Round 1: Diego takes Diaz down at 4:30. Diaz remains on his back for 1:30. Never comes anywhere close to a submission. Diego doesn't LNP, he pounds him repeatedly with fists and elbows. Diego never rocks him, but he's dictating the pace of the fight. In addition to not seriously threatening a submission, Diaz also gets in no good strikes. At 3:00 Diaz rises from his back but Diego still has his back, and threatens a Kimura. Nick threatens nothing. At 2:40 Nick gets on top and stays for less than 10 seconds. At 2:15 a knee by Diego followed by taking his back on the ground. For the final 2 minutes of the round, Diaz is on his back. During this time, Diego doesn't LNP, he pounds him repeatedly with fists and elbows; again never rocking him, but dictating the pace of the fight. Diaz gets no good strikes and no submission threats. Based on striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control, Diego wins this round 10-9 and it's not even close. All 3 judges, we later learn, score it 10-9 for Diego.

Round 2: First 20 seconds they stay on the feet, with neither fighter doing anything. 4:40 Diego shoots in and takes Nick down. Diego stays on top 30-40 seconds but very little happens for either fighter. At 4:00 Diego lifts Nick up and slams him down on his back. At 3:50 Goldy says "this has been Diego's fight thus far", with no disagreement from Joe Rogan. For another 40-60 seconds little happens; Diego still on top. At 2:45 Diego pins Diaz up against the fence and drops fists and elbows. Nick does get in one good upkick but it doesn't hurt Diego. Nick offers NOTHING in the way of striking or submission attempts. 1:30 Diego briefly mounts but does nothing with it; 1:15 Diaz reverses and he gets on top. He stays on top for less than a minute and throws basically NO strikes during this entire time (Diego does nothing from the bottom either). At :45 Rogan says "I have Diego winning so far." At :25 Diego rolls out, stands up, and gives Nick a knee and a jab. :15 Diego shoots in and effortlessly takes Nick down and takes his back. Based on striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control, Diego wins this round 10-9, though it's closer than round 1. All 3 judges, we later learn, score it 10-9 for Diego.

Round 3: Diaz outstrikes Diego for 40 seconds, stuffing a few takedowns. This is his most sustained "dominant" period of the entire fight. 4:20 Diego takes him down. Diego stays on top for a minute, throwing some strikes and elbows. Nick gets nothing going at all from the bottom. 3:30 Nick stands, but Diego IMMEDIATELY takes him down again and takes his back (for at least the third time in the fight). Diaz is in a clearly inferior position for 40 seconds but gets back to guard. 2:30 Nick gets up; Diego gets a guillotine; Nick takes him down (I think this is Nick's only actual takedown of the night). Diaz gets in a couple decent elbows. 1:45 Diego spins around and gets Nick in a VERY dangerous armbar attempt - closest either fighter comes on the night to a sub. They roll and reverse on the ground a couple times, with - guess who - Diego coming out on top. For the final minute Diaz keeps Diego in the guard but lies exhausted on the ground, doing nothing, while Diego drops more punches. At :10 Nick grabs an arm, but Diego is never in danger. Fight ends, Diego stands up and glares down at Nick. Based on striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control, Diego wins this round 10-9; closer than round 1 but probably not as close as round 2. All 3 judges, we later learn, score it 10-9 for Diego.

Rogan, whom everyone on this board agrees knows his shit as well as anyone, had Diego clearly winning this fight. All three judges had Diego winning all three rounds, as did I.

Where is the "razor thin" decision or worse, the "steal"? Help me understand here.
