work-shoot means fight is real, outcome is predetermined
while i think some of it as some bullshit from a guy protecting his profession from the new kid in town, but think about it
what the fuck is Cro Cop/Eddie Sanchez, or Zulu/Fedor, if not a work-shoot? they get their asses kicked, and everyone knew it would happen

Guys, you have to take it from who is making the comment, it's Hogan, the greatest pro wrestler the US has seen, yes, a washed up version recycling old glory thanks to VH1, so, if he comes out saying that the UFC is a work-shoot thing, Im not inclined too much to believe him, however, the reasoning is right, the UFC is a business and should be treated as such, and like any other enterprise, they will do whatever is necessary to increase income, and that's the bottom line. However, if Randy, Tito, Chuk or even Sylvia made the comment...then It would really bother me. But hey, the fighters do end up with huge cuts and bruises, broken bones and all that thanks to the action inside the octagon...unless they've learned to fake those out, I don't think the fights are scripted.

UFC may be getting bigger than the WWE in America, but world wide domestically UFC can't compare to the WWE, they sell out every venue they attend around the world. They travel half the year, and Wrestlemania just sold out in Detroit and they are expecting 100,000 fans, that will break the previous biggest WWF event which was WM3, 90,000 fans.

Well the UFC doesn't help itself by catering to the WWE fanbase. Despite what Dana White says, the UFC does nothing to distance itself from the WWE crowd and in fact encourages the crossover fans, even down to the smack-talk promos before fights to the trashy-dressed ring girls...most of that marketing is lifted directly from the WWE. Not a big deal...it's where the money is right now. But that is where non-fans get the notion that the UFC is "fake and not real", due to the overlapping fans.
If any fights are "fixed" so to speak, it's in the matchups themselves. Someone pointed out fights like Fedor/Zulu, even Fedor/Coleman, or Liddell/Tito II, CroCop/Sanchez...where the outcome of the fight is pretty much predetermined but not in a fixed manner.
I remember in Pride's December show, they took a 34-year old Olympic wrestler who never had an mma fight before in his life, and threw him in with Fujita. Christ. I mean you can't get closer to a fixed outcome than that. But the fights aren't "work-shoots" in the way Hogan seemed to suggest they were.

Hogan Sucks...
I think Hogan is totally confused, he thinks that being big and loud makes you tough and I don't think he could hold his own with Richard Simmons little own a REAL COMBAT ATHLETE(not some fruit in tights trying to put on a male soap opera). The fact of the matter is Hulk Hogan is a rude, cocky douchebag who has always dreamed of being tough in real life but couldn't cut it so instead he talks shit, and treats the fans(who are the only reason he has a career and isn't working somewhere with his name on his shirt) like dirt. The only thing in his whole life that I consider an accomplishment is producing his daughter, who is hot as shit by the way. If you can't tell I hate Hulk Hogan and pray for the day that his career is over and I don't ever have to hear about that balding old loudmouth ever again...
Whatcha gonna do when your arthritus catches up with you brother!!!
He needs to spend less time trash talking REAL sports and there athletes and more time searching for glow in the dark ty-die clothing that keeps making him look like a fool...
