Supposedly Dana called Nick Diaz to Congratulate him
According to a thread on Sherdog (yeah I know it's not a valid source) Dana White called Nick Diaz after the fight to congratulate him on his win over Gomi.
Naturally the source is sketchy as hell, but I think this sounds about right. I'm sure Dana loved the fact that Diaz won but is kicking himself that he doesn't have Diaz back under contract.

That was good of Dana to do that if he did. He might be kicking him self, but I think Nick is in a situation now where the weight class in pride plays into his favor. He is going to be the bigger stronger fighter there. Its a good place for him to be.

Wouldn't surprise me at all for Dana to phone him, why shouldn't he keep a good relationship with a talented fighter who may want to return to the US at some point. Would be stupid to burn bridges that aren't all ready burning.

Oh I am sure Dana is happy with that result. I agree it is a good place for Diaz, he is a force @ 160.

I agree. 170 is too big for him and 155 is cutting it pretty low, 161 seems like just the right weight class.
Like I said in the first post Dana is probably thrilled with him right now.

Dana is a business man. He's NOT going to burn any bridges. He knows Diaz is one of the most exciting fighters on ANY card.
Calling him was JUST GOOD BUSINESS.

I dont think that 170 is bad for him. He's a tall guy, he could go up in weight.
He did very well in 170, I mean when he lost a match, not like he got his @ss handed to him, it went to a dec.
I'm sure if it is true, that Dana knows that he does have talent.
Watching that fight Sat to me was like UFC vs PRIDE. I guess that way it made even more exciting. I'm sure that Diaz is going to to what is in his best interest, and Dana is a great business man, and he would make a right dec with Diaz.

LOL imo i think Dana might have something against Gomi. i remember watching the bonus features on UFC 46 when BJ beat Hughes, and Dana comments on how BJ beat Gomi...wonder if he ever tried to sign Gomi and he turned him down, haha

It is good business...but I hardly call CC beating Sanchez equal to Diaz beating Gomi but I guess it still deserves a business congratulations.
Fighters or owners should not be burning bridges.
