top 5 moments in MMA history
im talking moments not just fights. Heres mine in no particular order
*Royce Gracie wins first ever UFC, by defeating 3 opponents in one night
*Kazushi Sakuraba first to defeat Royce Gracie in a marathon 6 round 1 hour 30 minute match that would see Royce throw in the towel in between the 6 and 7 rounds (considering the length of this fight it wasn't boring at all)
*Fertitta's and Dana White buy UFC
*Pride MW GP 2003 Chuck Liddell enters as UFC representative with goal of fighting Wanderlei Silva, instead losing to Rampage Jackson in the semi finals, silva would go on to knockout Rampage and win tournament. setting up two long running feuds, one for a rematch between liddell and rampage, and another between Liddell and Wandy which would continue on, still being unresolved
*Fedor Emelianenko captures HW title at Pride 25 by defeating Nogueira an opponent many thought fedor did not have the tools to defeat, Fedor would go on to be arguably the most dominant p4p fighter in the histry of MMA

Im gonna throw in the spanking Randy gave Tito. Priceless!
This is not a top 5 but a good one none the less. I also will always remeber when Wandy wanted to fuck Chuck.

Gomi becoming the first Japanese champion in Pride history ranks up there. It would be like if GSP won his title in Montreal. Getting to do something like that in front of your hometown crowd has to be like no other experience in the world.

Penn stopping Hughes from making history, and making him tap out!

I couldn't decide if cro-cop singing with ufc deserved to be on there more than Saku beating Royce

I am a huge CroCop fan, so I can agree that his signing with UFC was huge! BUT, Sakuraba making Royce throw in the towel was priceless!
I have to agree that in his day, Royce was the man, but i never liked him, so to see him humiliated by Sakuraba was tops!

In no particular order:
Royce throwing in the title against Sakuraba.
The debut of Fedor.
Liddell's KO of Couture; think "passing of the torch."
Cro Cop signs with the UFC.
The UFC lands a television deal.

This is pretty vague, people are mixing business decisions with good fights.
I've never been too excited about people signing things, but if I had to pick a couple fights that impacted the sport I'd say Couture beating Belfort with his bag of tricks in their first fight, Doing it again against Liddell in their first bout, and Coleman winning the first Pride GP.

top 5 ufc moments:
1. First UFC- people couldn't believe it was happening
2. Royce gracie winning 3 fights in one night using Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu- showed a new kind of martial art that most around the world, people had no clue existed
3. Zuffa buying UFC- they got it regulated and had a lot of people really consider it a sport
4. Having spike tv behind UFC and really showing off the sport on free television
5. The Ultimate Fighter- showed people that mma fighters trained hard as hell and were intelligent and not just stupid bar brawlers (tank).
P.S. I can't really see how UFC signing cro cop would be a top 5 moment in UFC or MMA. It's awesome that he's in the UFC because he's a great fighter and very exciting, but one of the top 5 moments ever?
