Pride Fan Boys
Whats up with all the pride fan boys ragging on the UFC all the time? there is no way that pride is clear and away better than UFC, they are at best even and most likely the UFC is much better.
Just look at talent and the UFC can match up with prides top fighters
LW:Gomi vs Sherk or BJ Penn is a good match and hell he just got worked by Diaz who floundered in the UFC
WW: The UFC would destroy pride, DESTROY them, GSP, hughes, sanchez, parisyan, penn at 170, hell even Kos could probably take prides best at 170
MW: pride probably has the advantage here with Henderson and W Silva but i think A Silva and Franklin could make tough matches for them
LHW: Chuck is the best on the planet standing and probably at takedown defense and pride just doesnt have anyone that can match up agianst him, plus rampage now and as much as i hate tito him and babalu too
HW: Pride definatly wins Fedor is just on a whole nother level from everyone else but cro cop is as good as you will find under fedor and ill take Arlovski against alot of heavy weights, i just hate tim sylvia
and for building up fighters, thats just good business for the UFC and for the fighters and pride does it too. You dont just throw a minor league player into the majors just because he has the potential
and i think it would be great if ufc bought out pride, you could have an NFL AFL situation where they merged and made football the most popular sport in america. Pride and UFC have seperate events all year with maybe a few cross promo match ups and then have a champ vs champ show at the end of the year. UFC would not disband PRIDE, that would be a terrible buisness idea and even if you hate Dana, he is a genius business man.

Man, I consider myself a UFC fan but you are so off base on almost every point you make.
Diaz never floundered in the UFC. He lost three close decisions one of them was highly questionable against Diego who everyone is on his nut sack as the next big thing.
Pride doesn't have a 170 lb division so of course the UFC has all the talent.
And how would it be good for MMA if there was only one major Org for two different markets. You can't compare MMA to Football with the AFL/NFL merger because MMA has two vastly different audiences where as AFL and the NFL were competing for the same market, which was bad for both leagues since, they had to share the same revenue.

Agreed. I am no Pride fanboy...I actually somewhat favor the UFC. But I will be the first to admit that Pride has by far the better fighters. Even if you talk about how Diaz beat Gomi, it makes no difference because Diaz is a Pride fighter now. Diaz was mainly beat in the UFC because of no yellow card system. If the fights he lost in the UFC were fought in Pride, his opponents may have just been yellow carded into a disqualification. Diaz was always taken to the ground and controlled. No one could really hang with him standing. In Pride, there are no lay n pray fights because the refs won't allow it...or at least in Japan anyway. I hate giving the guy credit, but Diaz is a great fighter and would probably have seen a different fate against his past opponents in an organization that has rules against stalling.

actually, there wasnt really that much of a market for professional football, the first super bowl was sparcely attended and bringing the most talented people in the sport to one place and compete to see who truely is the best they made it americas #1 sport. and if UFC doesnt buy pride then pride can keep losing all their good fighters to the UFc and it will die anyways. for anyone that likes pride, at least the UFC could pump some life back into it.
and the fact that pride cant even field a full division from 155-185 should say enough. thats the natural weight for most people on the planet and you cant find anyone to fight there?
and nick diaz was 6-4 in the ufc, he lost to Joe riggs who absolutely blows and got destroyed by sanchez, that fight wasnt close at all

The Sanchez fight wasn't close? Hahahahah. I honestly wasn't sure who would get the decision before I heard it called.

as far as laying on top and not doing anything. if thats it then just get up, work on preventing take downs and getting up from your back, thats part of MMA. thats like saying "gosh, he was just hitting me in the face and there was nothing i could do about it" If someone can control you for 15-20 minutes without you being able to hurt them and without putting themselves in a bad position then maybe that says something about you

It's not that Pride can't create a full division for 170. It's that their Lightweight division is actually fought at 160 instead of 155, and there would really be no reason to create a division with a 10 pound difference from the one below it.

are you joking? did you even watch it? All the fans got pissed and started booing diaz because leading into the fight, he kept saying how sanchez didnt deserve to be in the UFC and all this and after he got worked by diego he still didnt admit that diego deserved to be there
