Excuses
Excuses, How come everytime a great fighter gets beat there are excuses to take away from his defeat? you saw it with Penn and Hughes, Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas, Gomi and Diaz, Lil Nog's,and Wand and Hendo. I mean are they too PRIDEFUL to admit they didnt Train as hard or didnt take their opp. Seriously? to me they just want to make an excuse that they got their asses handed to them on PPV and Didnt collect their Money... Either way they all wernt Prepared... that the bottom line no more excuses just be in better shape or drop ur career cause guess what Its life and Shit Happens...

what was lil nogs excuse, i dont remember hearing one, i think penns excuse was valid because he was kicking hughes ass then the rib problem, i agree excuses suck, but think how hard it would to do the most physical sport you could possibly do and on top of you are hurt or sick, it takes a lot away from a fighter, what pisses me off is when sergie tapped that clown and he acted like he didnt tap, that is just plain stupid, they have that shit on tape, you cannot deny it

the rib thing is not an excuse but a reason why hughes will beat penn again. i have never heard of someone injuring themselves while taking their opponent's back. penn openly demonstrates that he does not have the will or the work ethic necessary to become world champion - he said with regards to running "who wants to do that?" someone who wants to win a belt or hell just plain fight WILL do that. it's called heart. penn didn't train sufficiently to properly execute that move without getting hurt. how's that for a spin on things? if i've never thrown a baseball with all my might before i'm sure i would tear something the first time i did.

I agree, Penn injured his ribs in the fight. So its not a valid excuse. I disagree with the part about Hughes beating Penn again but thats for another thread.

well he did, and there was a medical report to prove it. there was a thread on it a few months back.
anyways, id say the worst excuses are the ones fans come up with when their fighters get smashed. i admit ive done it too, but that still doesnt make it right LOL
but can anyone deny fate? and how it's played it's part in the future of certain fighters?
for instance, Hughes gets dominated by Penn for two rounds then to finally get a TKO victory on a gassed Penn in the third...one month and a half later, he loses to GSP in a dominating fashion! Hughes time was up.
Or Wandy loses to Arona by Decision, then beats Arona by Decision. Then gets KOd bad by Cro Cop and now KOd bad by Henderson! Wandy's time was up.
and now Gomi...gets subbed by Aurelio, then barely survives a decision to Aurelio...then gets subbed by Diaz! his time will soon be up. see what im getting at? no need for excuses, better fighters are coming along. its evolution of the sport. so lets just be happy we have MMA
or Gomi gets subbed by Aurelio, only to squeak by him with a Split Decision when they fought for the strap.
