Agreed. People are UFC fans, but not MMA fans, what gives? Is the UFC marketing really that good?

I think that's part of it. I think the nonexistent advertising of PRIDE helps. It's hard to relate to a company that has no face in North America (and I imagine it would seem that way to a casual fan). Also I'm sure there is some measure of a sense of the UFC being american, and therefore more palatable for certain people.

I've said it's debatable whether Tito could beat Wandy again.

So maybe you guys are talking about me?

But I don't think I ever said Tito would beat him again, just that he could beat him.

I don't like Pride as much as the UFC b/c the have guys in Diapers banging on drums and Tap dancing to the Pride theme song.

It's not really ignorance, more like preference.

Most UFC fans don't even know what Pride is and can you blame them? Pride doesn't even make an effort to market an American audience. You can't blame the UFC because they are suceeding where Pride is failing. If UFC fighters didn't come from Pride or go to Pride half the people here wouldn't know what Pride is as well. If Pride is here to stay they better get some ad campaigns. The UFC was brilliant teaming up with Spike tv. It didn't have to be TUF or even UFN- just UFC unleashed on it's own gains considerable coverage. Until Pride makes a decent attempt to gain popularity in the US no one really has a good reason to be down on the UFC fans who are ignorant of Pride. As far as they know it isn't Mixed Martial Arts but Ultimate Fighting.

i agree with this too....i started watching mma(ufc) when i was about 12 or 13 around 1999 and all i knew for 3 or 4 years was ufc...i didnt even call it mma it was ufc...but then i started wondering hey wheres that guy that tito beat and other such questions arrose in my mind and then pride came into my life...i had to research it myself and i think alot of the "ufc" fans(not mma fans) are reluctint to watch or learn of anything else...i think if there was a pride type tuf show it would do wonders for pride in the us...

dont you hate when people are taling about mma and all they can seem to call it is ufc!!!!its so sad!!!
