Default I can't believe something like this could happen

This morning when I woke up, I logged on to espn.com and it had a story about former boxer Tommy Morrison, who had tested postive for HIV, been cleared to return to the ring in West Virginia sometime this year. He apparently tested negative in the tests to get a license. I know this is an MMA site but i think this is a story that had to be brought up. How can you test positive 10 years ago and then all of a sudden by perfectly fine from a disease that has no cure. What do you guys think about this story?

If the test did come back negative, then he has every right to fight. I also read that there were some cases where HIV just disappeared but I am not sure if that is applicable to this situation. In any case, the guy is 38 and I guess he is desperate for money. If I remember correctly, despite his impressive record, he was mainly hype at the time.

It could have been a faulty test that could happen as well

Morrison's argument isn't that he's miraculously cured. He believes it was a misdiagnosis from the start. He also hints at a conspiracy that existed back then to get him out of boxing. Not sure why though, other than he starred in Rocky V, maybe the worst sports movie of all time.

I read that article as well and it sounded like the origional test may have been a mistake. I support what they did to protect the other fighters but he had tests a few years later that he says showed no HIV but the doctors then say that isnt a negative either. I dont know, Im not a doctor but Im happy for him. If he in fact never did have it then it is a shame that he has miossed so much time in the sport. If these tests are showing no signs of HIV then let him fight.

Cool

I would really like to see him back in the ring again. I remember when he beat Forman. An old Forman for sure, but not a bad fight if i remember.
Good for him, I look forward to seeing how he does.
