Yeah I would think so too, especially with Shamrock and Gracie as the main event...those are probably 2 most mainstream names in MMA.

Imagine what the next show will have for the main event? without those names headlining?

Maybe Ninja Rua will be the main event?

But yeah, what big names does EliteXC have besides Gracie and Shamrock?

Not really any. The Crow was supposed to be one of their brightest stars but he just looked awful. I guess Junior Silva?

I'm sure they were, but isn't showtime an additional package aside from the premium package that comes with HBO 1,2,3 and Cinemax 1 & 2?

I think that is the problem, had it been on HBO or Cinemax the ratings would've been much better.

Me personally, I have stadard cable (I could get the roadrunner package for like $10 more per month but I watch as little TV as humanly possble so I have no need for hundreds of channels) so Spike and Warrior Nation are what I watch though I don't watch the UFC reruns.

It looks like it is going to be Shamrock, Vera and Gina Corano (I think she will be able to pull in a fan gathering and possibly those illussive female viwers that no one has seemed to be able to tap into yet). Junior could be as well but he does not have the charisma od Shamrock, Vera and Gina so it looks to be those 3 IMO.

Default EliteXC Ratings Actually Pretty Solid

http://www.mma-insider.com/2007/02/r...-10-event.html

---

Ratings for EliteXC's Feb. 10 event

According to a Spike TV press release, EliteXC's debut event on Showtime (aired Saturday Feb. 10 10pm - 12:32am) drew 365,000 total viewers while Spike TV's repeat airing of a pre-packaged UFC show -- Ultimate Knockouts 2 (aired Saturday Feb. 10 10pm) -- drew 1,215,000 total viewers.

Initially, these numbers appear to indicate that the UFC taped show dramatically outperformed EliteXC's debut event. That wouldn't be a very good start for EliteXC.

But let's dig a little deeper. Showtime is a premium cable channel and therefore costs viewers between $10-$15 per month extra compared to Spike TV, which is a basic cable channel. As expected, Showtime has many fewer viewers -- it is reported to be available in 15 million households -- while Spike TV is reported to be available in the neighborhood of 80 million households.

Given this disparity in the availability of each channel, let's compare ratings between the two shows and not total viewers. Ratings account for how many households a given show is available in, which make them better measures of how shows fare.

Upon further inquiry, the folks at Spike TV were kind enough to provide the ratings for each show. Looking at these numbers, we see a very different picture from the one above.

EliteXC's show did a 1.62 household rating, with a 1.41 in males 18-34, and a 1.47 in males 18-49. Spike TV's Ultimate Knockouts 2 did a 0.95 household rating, with a 1.17 in males 18-34, and a 1.00 in males 18-49.

Looking at the ratings, EliteXC actually won the time slot while the UFC show still did quite well. Overall, these ratings are a good sign for MMA executives.

It was a good show and they were replaying the hell out of it for the next few days. People who watched it will watch it again, and I am sure the replays grabbed some new fans. I think it was good. I would like to see what the ratings would be for thenext show and I guarantee that it will be higher.

UFC has also done WAY more buys than that on PPV's, I'm sure Dana will bring that one too.
