Hughes vs. Gracie
The polls for this fight at mmaweekly.com and UFC.com are extremely close and i was wondering your guys opinion of the outcome of this fight.I think Royce will catch Hughes in an armbar. If Matt wants to stand I think Royce will keep him at bay just like he did against that boxer at UFC 1 eventually Matt will get frustrated go for a takedown and get his arm broken off.I don't think Matt will be able to do any effective damage standing.

And the award for funniest post of the year goes to!
Gotta go with Hughes in this one. Probably TKO from ground and pound, possibly a decision. I don't see him getting the knockout standing like he claims is his gameplan. Royce could very well catch him in a submission, as that's one area Hughes is vulnrable against those who do submissions very well (Penn, Hallman, Charuto) but I just don't see Royce catching him.

I don't like the guy, but I gotta go with Hughes. I think he's too strong for Royce & slams may be the order of the day.
Have to admit though that Royce has a good chance of winning, but this is feeling more like a Pride "freak-fight" than anything else. Shame UFC are going this route.

50/50. I'm still shocked so many people not only give Royce a chance in this fight, but pick him to win it. I know the hype shows UFC has done, the Royce unleashed special, last night's Hughes-Gracie preview special, they really get you thinking it's a close fight. This weekend though, I think everyone will finally realize what's up. The only way Hughes loses is if he makes a mistake and Royce catches him in a submission. I don't see that happening, even though it very well could.

A pride Freak fight... As i have said before You wouldnt know who Matt Hughes was is or ever will be if it wasnt for Royce and people arnt giving a 5 degree bjj expert a chance... who are you kidding? Matt Hughes has a weakness its call leaving open a Choke. Yes Hughes is Strong. Yes Hughes can wrestle hes got a gr8 take down I think youll see the best take down with the legendary Slam Vs. the best gaurd in the ENTIRE WORLD. I see Hughes getting Frustrated leaving himself open to something and I see Hughes getting Tapped out. I am a big Hughes Fan. IM a big Gracie Fan. i would much rather it had been Franklin taking the LOSS instead of HUGHES. Calling this Fight a freak fight is crazy. youre taking 40 year old man that can still fight kick anyone who post's in here's ass against a guy that would probably slam any of us on our heads. I honestly think this could be one of the best fights the UFC has ever seen. I would love to See a Draw and it go 5 rounds... I see Royce getting Hughes in the end either way... and Matt standing up the whole fight is crazy.... Matts stand up sucks.... its better then Royce's but How many gracies have good stand up? NONE. all of you should be on the Look out for Roger Gracie... thats gonna be the next big thing for the gracie fighters...

What exactly has Royce done RECENTLY to deserve your blinkered dedication?
Did you not see the Tokoro fight? 3 fights this millennium & 2 of those were draws, that if Royce allowed decisions for these fights would be losses!
I really liked Royce in the early days, but Hughes is a great modern day MMA, not an inactive 40-year-old legend in BJJ.
As I said I hope he clicks lucky & makes Hughes tap, I just can't see it.

Incidently I'm assuming you're a Gracie nut (whatever gave me that idea?), what's happening with Ryan?
Has he recovered from his gun-shot wound & if so when's he next fighting?

A gracie Nut? No not by no means... I do believe that Gracie Bjj is suppior over reg Bjj... theres alot of MMA guys i like... I keep up with some of the younger fighters. And youre right Royce hasnt done much for the sport as of late. But i would take a 40 year old gracie agianst most Modern MMA guys... Has anyone forgot that Hughes isnt the True Champ? Has anyone forgot that he won the title while being out cold from a Triangle choke? Hughes has had a Gr8 run. when he meets up with GSP in sept im telling you the younger candian will beat the living hell outta hughes. Hughes isnt so young either... Hes good and can still bring it but is Matt Hughes Still in the top of the sport... UFC is different from PRIDE OR K1 alot differnt... We will see what Royce has for Hughes... and it wont be LUCK I promise you that...

He may or may not have been out cold from the triangle ,but he fought Carlos again and won by tko do to strikes on the ground(if I'm not mistaken).I agree though he's not the real champ.Penn choked his ass out. And won the title. And coming up soon GSP is going to take the WW title. GSP was dominating Hughes till he made a minor mistake that Hughes was able to capitalize on I don't see this happening again. What I also don't understand is Hughes criticized Trigg for not being able to defend the choke well.He even said that defending a choke was day one stuff..yet he didn't do a very good job at defending Penns choke.
