Elite XC Reactions
I was really looking forward to seeing this event, and seeing what Gary Shaw would do to attempt to compete with the UFC and Pride. I thought that for a first event, other than the Main Event result it went pretty well. As far as production value goes it was a bit low budget I thought . The entrance stuff was kind of a lame attempt at entertainment.
As far as the fights went I was impressed with Villasenor, though Loiseau seemed not to be the same fighter he used to be. Antonio Silva seems like he could be a prospect down the road, I hope he continues to step up in talent of opponents. The Crazy Horse KO was great, and if there were 2 inches added to Noons' arm it very well would have been a double KO. The only low point of the night as far as the fights went was Shamrock and Gracie. Though it can be viewed as Gracie employing some lay and pray, I thought he was controlling and winning the fight before the knees. If the first one was an accident, the second one definately wasn't, Frank knew the rules, and knew very well were he was landing those knees. Otherwise, not a bad card.
Any thoughts?

I didn't think it was any better than the other top B promotions (Strikeforce, KOTC, Cage Rage). But more MMA is good in my books.

The womens fight was by far the best of the night.

Yeah, I should rephrase what I said to, I was interested in seeing if Elite would be any better than the other "top B promotions". The only real competition they pose to the UFC or Pride at this point is the Showtime contract. I guess we'll see if they can grow.

i thought all the fights were awesome, krazy horse had a highlight ko, Villasenor killed the crow even though he looked out of it, he needs to regroup, the womens fight was awesome, thier ground game was crap but the stand out on Gina Carano was great, it opened the door for women fighters, silva looked good, cabbage is just too damn slow, the main event was stupid, hopefully the rematch is better is renzo can overcome his "injury" as far as im concerned it was a great, free fights= great they need to get some more cards and get some champs
will shamrock be fight baroni in this org?

I liked it, I thought they did a good jump. The Crazy horse ko was the best. The girls did a good job. I think Shamrock pulled a foul move, he could have shown a little more remorse. He was smiling and laghing like he dodged a bullet. From the look of the fight Frank did dodge a bullet.

Man did that ending take the wind out of the PPV
Best fight:
Tie-Periera vs. Vasquez and Carano Kedzie
Worst fight:
Fukuda vs. Gates (Loiseau was just a pathetic experience).
The internet feed of the early fights worked very well for me, once I got into the site. I have no idea how Periera got a 29-28 from one of hte judges in his fight. Should have been 29-28 Vasquez on all three cards.
Noons looked like he was going to beat up Crazy Horse before ending the fight. Noons JSUT missed with his right cross and Crazy Horse gets the big KO, gets to piss off the fans, and Showtime gets a heel that people will tune in to see lose.
I predicted the womens fight would steal the show, and it did. Carano came out of her fight as a TOUGH TOUGH fighter. Both women put on a great show.
Silva was MUCH quicker than the last two fights where I saw him. Tough guy, but who will he fight at Superheavyweight?
Villasenor's fight was nice for him, but there was only one fighter in the ring. Loiseau is done.
Shamrock Gracie was SO disappointing. Didn't Renzo fight in Pride? Those were the first knees he ever took? If I am wrong, and he does indeed have a serious injury, I apologize, but I saw a fighter taking a powder out of convenience. It looked like a bad wrestling finish. Renzo looked, to me, to be clearly playing it up. Shamrock had really worked him pretty hard, and Renzo had no answer on the ground. He looked to be happy to find a convenient way out. His whole " I can't even stand up 3 minutes later" rang so phoney. Guys get knocked out cold and are up standing faster than him. HE has taken bigger knees and got up. I am going to be venting over this the rest of the weekend.
As for the show itself. REALLY good mic'ing of the ring. You could hear the punches and kicks very well. Crowd was nearly non existent. I heard open mic's, secondary conversation, etc. 7-8 times, which was silly. The announcing was passable, but Mario Runello was MUCH more irratating than his Pride days somehow. His non stop screaming and faux story telling drove me nuts.

That's supposed to be in the Strikeforce organization.
