Would the Dan "the Beast" Severn be competitive today?
In a recent interview UFC Hall of Famer Dan "The Beast" Severn hinted that he wouldn’t mind getting back in to the UFC’s Octagon.
In the interview Severn said:
“So I’ll leave you with this question mark. Did Dan Severn lose because he got beat by a technique, or did Dan Severn lose because he did not want to do what he had to do to another human being to win?
Oh, I would take a rematch today. I have no reservations about doing those forearm smashes and hammer strikes today.”
Despite being 52, Severn has remained extremely active since his last UFC appearance at UFC 27: Ultimate Bad Boyz and sports an incredible record of 73-12-2. How he would fair against the likes of Randy, Cro Cop and Sylvia has yet to be seen, but it might set up some cool old skool rematches with the likes of Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie.
I would advise letting almost dead dogs die. Severn would be killed w/ the techniques and styles being used today. I think due to the use of wieght classes he would destroyed.

Well he had around 5 fights in 2006 that he won so that is impressive for his age but it wasn't against anyone that great. As far as Severn coming back against top competition...HELL NO lol, he has around 100 professional MMA fights and is around 53 years old. That is a very bad idea for him.

California recently denied him a liscence to fight. Dan will never fight in the UFC again, its just silly to think he will. Are their still guys he could fight? sure, but it'll never be in a big show. and Dan will probably never step into the octagon again. He's the black sheep of the UFC hall of fame.
I wonder is the UFC half of fame an actual hall in zuffa's office between dana and the borther's offices with royce's, dan's, ken's and randy's pictures?

He would get killed today! But it would be very interesting to see him fight Chuck Zito! Chuck is training MMA now and plans opn fighting. The Beast would be a real test for him and would tell us if Zito is just blowing a lot of hot air about how good he is.

he is never spoken of ever, he has zero guys in the org. he's still trying to fight with other promoters. he calls fights for alot of smaller shows and is never asked to make an apperance for the UFC. And when you look at the other 3 guys in the HOF, he comes in as the black sheep. all of them have come back later in their fighting careers to fight, and Dan never wil.

at least he has a winning record, when all is said and done, randy could end up being in the hof with a 500 record, nice guy, but def the one that sticks out for the hof's.

My severn4life name is meant with humor because he seems to never want to stop fighting but lets not get it twisted he is a deserving member of the hall. he is the only UFC triple crown winner (standard tourney, ult ult tourney and superfight). i agree he would get handled by todays stars, but whats the harm if you let him fight on the undercard of a UFN, against someone like Mir or Eilers or even on a PPV against Tank Abbott, to see how he fares, if he wants the chance, i think he deserves it.

Severn is a pioneer, not a competitor. If he really considers fighting again....two words for ya Dan....Tank Abbott. You'd be embarassed.

Lets all hope not, Although I would love to see a rematch with Forrest. (Does that mean there's somthing wrong with me?)
But in all actuality they should give him an IFL team and tell him, "NO MORE FIGHTS"
