I won't make excuses for anyone and I didn't see the PPV, so I won't say this emphatically, but have you ever tried to fight or compete without traction? It can really ruin your mental state and smash a game plan before it even begins. That being said, who would make an excuse about CroCop? Hell, you lost to possibly the #1.5 HW in the world. (It's not fair to compare other fighters to Fedor)

And Eddie showed none. His chance was the take down but you have to be moving forward for that to happen. Though in theory if he back peddled fast enough he'd have had Mirko's back.
As for Cro Cop himself, that was typical when he's not concerned with whom he's facing. In half of his Pride fights he looks to be just punching the clock. He does not interview at all well and NEVER has as Rogan should have known being such a big fan and all. This is a guy who really shines when his opponent is up to par. I hope being the UFC does not stunt his growth as a fighter. Also, I think someone has to tell him about being ABLE to use elbows in the UFC. With his speed and power elbow strikes would be a very nasty addition to the arsenal.
As a side note, even the astounding RJJ himself looked unimpressive when the other guy was on his bicycle and peddling like mad.

In all honesty I have noticed several fights where the fighter slips on the center advertisement, however most accept it as part of the terrain and try to avoid the slick area. Eddie has no need to make excuses, he put up a better showing then I expected. To make excuses lessens his performance, he is young though.

If it were me I wouldn't attempt to make ANY excuses. His record is now 9 - 1 with his only loss to MIRKO CRO COP. I'd still be able to sleep at night...that's for sure.

I think its agreed that he was going to lose. To people talking bad because he was trying to stay away from kicks, any person with an iq above 7 knows they don't want to get kicked by crocop. Excuses are always bad but honestly with less than 20 seconds left in the round I don't think that fight needed to be stopped.

I agree....it's not like he wasn't attempting to defend himself.

Closing the gap and staying there also would have removed the danger of kicks and brought Eddie into the only chance he had, in close. He loses after throwing down bigtime with the best pure striker in the game, he's got nothing to prove to anyone and not an excuse to be made.

Yeah the way you beat Crocop is to force him to back petal. If you let him keep coming foward like Sanchez did, your only delaying the inevitable. He's eventaully gonna catch you.
