UFC HW Matches: The Politics

If (haha) Cro Cop is victorious this Saturday, will he get a title shot right away, like Silva did?

The answer is: MAYBE.

If Sylvia defeats Randy next month, then there is little doubt that Cro Cop gets to kick off Sylvia's head immediately. Why? Because Sylvia is an unpopular champion who many fans want to see defeated. And Cro Cop can deliver this.

However, what if Randy defeats Sylvia? NO WAY is Cro Cop getting a shot immediately, because not many fans want to see Randy get roughed up. UFC wants to build Cro Cop into a big star in the States, and beating up a legend and fan favorite such as Randy is not going to accomplish that.

So, what happens if Cro Cop wins and Randy wins?

Who does Cro Cop get next? My guess is another can.

Who does Randy get next? My guess is AA.

This would enable Randy to lose the HW title, but not get destroyed. Randy could then retire, and AA can be built up to be "the invincible pit bull" again.

AA vs. Cro Cop then is a great matchup. The new invincible HW in Cro Cop vs. the Pitt Bull.

No matter who wins that matchup (though cro cop should), the HW division now has two great heavyweights who can duke it out for the belt.

Thoughts?

I think Cro Cop will have at least one more fight before a title shot, but probably more then that.

David Loiseau said that he had a clause in his contract where if he lost two fights straight, the UFC can et him go.

If Sylvia loses to Couture, I would put his next fight against Cro Cop and everybody wins. The question is if Dana hates Tim that much, and I think he does.

I have to agree with Jkilla on this one. If Randy wins they will try to hold off on a Crocop fight and get an extra PPV or two out of Randy. They won't want Crocop to fight Randy untill they can really pull some money out of it.

If Sylvia wins, Crocop could very well be his next fight. They know that Sylvia doesn't sell PPVs and Crocop will.

I doubt they would let Sylvia go, they would just make him fight lesser guys until he earns the right for Crocop to kick him in the face again.

Immediate title shot after this fight no matter who is the champ.
Who else deserves a shot in the UFC?

Cro Cop vs Tim or Randy.

After they lose, I see a rematch with Tim and Randy happening.

Then AA vs Cro Cop. AA loses.

Then Cro Cop vs Vera (if ufc) or Gonzaga (who they will build up).

Then Tim or Randy again.

Then Fedor vs Cro Cop Champ against Champ...Wooooooo

That's the way I would do it or even Couture-Gonzaga, Cro Cop-Sylvia, Arlovski-Hardonk.

Thenk give the AA-hardonk win to Couture (he should beat Gonzaga) and then have Crocop take on the winner of that (in the meantime he could fight the loser of AA-Hardonk).

That would get potentially an extra fight out of Randy, although it depends on how he looks against Tim.

if couture wins, i see him getting a gimme fight before fighting cro cop. no one likes to see a new champ after every fight. but i don't see cro cop fighting any big names until he is champion so it can sell as much as possible. say tim loses and fights cro cop before cro cops champ? then that's one less contender cro cop can fight when he becomes champ. see, until he's champ he can fight anyone, but once he's champ, he can only fight the top contenders and names of the company.
