Best Ground and Pound Fighter's in MMA

tito has finished ken shammy 3 times who is way passed his prime all 3 times, got a cut on elvis the can sinosic and neck cranked yuki kondo, beat some other cans wich is not impressive. he has finished someone worth a damn, maybe tanner and meztger but where are they now?? tito is a hyped fighter with no real impressive wins over great fighters, he shoudl have lost to vitor and has lost everytime he faces a great fighter...

okay he was able to hang with both couture and liddell (who are two of the greatest fighters of all time in ufc... it takes a great fighter to do that... especially being able to hang with liddell nowadays and he won one round against him

aside from that who has he beat, yea he has beat ken 3 times, but he beat mezger, tanner, vitor, forrest, wanderlei.... these are great fighters, and u guys can keep saying yea but this win was because of a split decision (forrest and vitor) and this win was when that guy wasnt that good (tanner and wanderlei) but you don't see anyone giving crap to babalu when they say he beat rua and hung wiht fedor (fedor and rua were just starting out at that time)

people are just biased against tito and don't even give him credit for being one of the few people to have great gnp.... even if tito beats babalu, tito critics will say yea but babalu was having a bad days and the other 364 days he would beat him.... give a guy credit when its due.... i dont like watching some fighters either but i give them credit when credit is due

tito hung with chuck and randy? what do you mean hung with them? cuz as i seen it randy dominated tito the entire fight, ENTIRE fight... he hung with chuck? how so? cuz he mite have won one round? that fight coulda very well been ended in the first when chuck was hittin him wit that barrage of shots...

and who are you kiddin? babalu would destroy tito... destroy... this fight needs to be made sooon... babalu is redic!

im not sayin tito is an awful fighter or has bad gnp... bein able to use his gnp in ppls guards is extremely beneficial for him as it gives him an edge allowin him to win pts, rounds, n fights... i just dont see tito as a top tier fighter... hes so huge based on his character/personality this is what has put him at the top of many ppls list, not his fighting, his personality and antics...

Other than Fedor who is the obvious choice.

Kerr in Vale Tudo, Kerr and Coleman in the UFC before the headbutts were banned (and they were both 250lb beasts)

Hughes, Couture, Fujita, Tito, Gomi, Stevenson, Randleman, Herring, Sakuraba, etc.

There are a bunch of fighters that have great gnp but the most vicious and effective IMO are Fedor and both Kerr & Coleman before headbutts were outlawed, those were/are the 3 fighters you pray do not take you to the ground.

Ok well if this will maybe ease some of you Tito fans up then I will say that Tito doesn't "suck" at GnP but I do not consider him great enough at it to rank him among the top 5 GnP fighters in MMA.

I'd say Couture and Hughes. I'd put Fedor as no 1. for gnp, but like some have said, most of his fights he ends with the submission, but if he wanted to his ground and pound could kill people, well except for Nog of course.

how many people were even able to go that much with liddell, or let me ask u another question who was the last person to even win one round against liddell..... it shows u something... and that was after the barrage of punches he took from liddell in the 1st round

and babalu is a great submission artist but who did he beat that was significant... lets see rua? (rua only fought for like 10 months at that time) and why is he so good cuz he was able to go the distance with fedor? fedor was dominating him and fedor was only fighting for a year at that time....

i admit babalu is good but u must be out of ur mind to say that babalu is gonna destroy tito.... name me one person who destroyed tito... the worst tito has ever lost was to liddell but thats not even in comparison to how bad babalu lost to liddell in both matches.... liddell made babalu look like an amateur in both fights...

tito might not be well rounded, but it was just his conditioning and his personality that got him this far... it was also his heart... he will take punishment if he has to and he will dish it out as well...

To add, also in the Fedor vs Babalu fight there were no strikes to the face of a downed opponent so Fedor could not utilize his gnp, he had to throw body punches from the guard. Fedor still dominated the fight from bell to bell.

Babalu is a great fighter though and Liddell had his number in the first fight and Babalu landed a great right in the second fight and thought (for some strange reason as Chuck has taken HUGE shots from Mezger, Overeem and Rampage and not even been shook) he had Chuck hurt and ran in like a fool and Chuck dropped him where he stood.

Babalu vs Tito is a completely different matchup though and IMO it favors Babalu as he is a slightly better striker than Tito and can win fight both on his back and ontop of someone and Tito can only win the fihgt 1 way, top position gnp and Babalu's BJJ game is world class.

haha funny.. "hung with liddell" he was on his heels the entire fight. he was taking shots from across the octagon because he didnt even want to get close
