I think Gomi wins by decision, wins the striking battles.. scores a few takedowns, and avoids Nicks Subs

Gomi is a better striker, better wrestler and a lot faster than Diaz.
Diaz is fighting in the ring too, which is Gomi's arena.
Diaz has size on him and subs, but I think Gomi is just another level of Striker then what he has seen.

I agree about wanting to see the best fighters only fighting againsrt other top fighters but I can see the point of giving a top fighter a simple fight when he is coming off a defeat. MMA is a very tough sport and losing your previous fight can stay with you for quite a while affecting your performance in your next fights. So if a fighter is put up against a top opponent, straight after a loss, he is much more likely to lose than would otherwise be the case. So even if we get a boring and predictable match involving one of the top fighters on one PPV it could be good for the fighter overall giving him his mentality back and giving us a better fight to watch when he comes up against the opponent we all want him to fight.

The UFC is a company. Like any company, they want to maximize their profits. Building fighters is essential in making money. Dana White will continue to use Diego Sanchez as an UFN kind of fighter, because that is what brings in the raitings on Spike TV. Why risk throwing him in there with Hughes when it could potentially kill his drawing value? Hell, the fight with Karo was very risky. They will toss him shit fighters and build his credibility until they feel he is ready to draw big numbers at a PPV event.
To the casual fan, it doesn't matter WHO Matt Hughes is fighting, but THAT he is fighting. Same with Sylvia, Franklin, and the TUF guys especially.
Pride may seem different, they just have more depth and more talented fighters. That's all.

YES!!! and what ticks me off more is that Hughes asked for Dirty and UFC wouldn't give him to him. I want to see that fight way more than Lytle. These are some of the reasons I think the UFC is protecting Diego.

no haha they are not, if diego COULD beat matt the UFC would be all over putting over diego but there not cuz matt asked to fight diego and the UFC wanted none of that.

I don't think so People like to hate Matt because he is a Redneck. I find him to be a preatty damn good fighter and I think he will beat Diego even though he is Diegos best chance of breaking into the top three.
