I have my doubts and gotta ask
I am a fan of Chuck Liddell, and have in the past bashed Tito. It was at this fight he earned my respect. I know I may take some heat for this, so flame if you desire, I can handle it.
I wasn’t there so I didn’t see it live. I did read the pbp on MMANews web site, and watched the fight on video. The ending of the fight has caused me concern. Chuck was beating down on Tito. From my view (video) it APPEARED that although Chuck did land some shots to Tito’s head, however, there were more inaccurate shots to the arms and to the defense of Tito.
Referee Yamasaki stopped the fight because in his eyes, and in his mind (I guess) Tito was not able to intelligently defend himself. At the moment Yamasaki was stopping the fight, at that instance he stood over the fighters. It looked as though he was telling Tito (in his own verbiage) to make an effort to intelligently defend himself, then, at the last moment, at the moment of the end, it looked as though Tito made one last kick/challenge to escape the onslaught of Chuck’s attack. The fight was stopped and Tito stayed on his knees for just a moment then ascended to his feet without effort.
The fight ended and Tito manned up. Tito showed respect to his opponent, he acknowledged his defeat, he told the world Chuck IS the best on the PLANET.
So, my question is (I acknowledge as mentioned above I wasn’t there, and that I may be planting a seed of doubt) was Tito’s last kick effort, this last ounce of effort, the final moment the fight ended – at this point was it a WWE pre-choreographed moment?????????
Watch the fight again, and then again.
If I’m full of $H!+ so be it.
