calm down everybody is allowed to dislike fighters, gracie's didnt start mma either, and it was great seeing old ass royce getting his head beaten with those brutal punches, that was a terrible main event

I realize people are allowed to dislike fighters, but at least respect them. Royce is an influential part of the sport we see today. If it wasn't for him showing up we would be forced to watch Keith Hackney vs. Emmanuel Yarbrough fights even today. It would be Karate kids vs. Tae Kwon Do "champions." It would be a real life version of Tekken. I realize the Gracies didn't start or invent MMA, but they popularized it without a doubt in the U.S. They helped contribute their style of Jiu Jitsu to make the fights we watch today possible. They are true legends in this sport.

Actually, they did invent the sport, kind of. It was due to the emergence of BJJ and the Gracies' claim that it was the best martial art that Vale Tudo emerged and began being televised on Brasilian television in the 60s - often with Gracie students fighting other Martial Artists.
Shoot wrestling also began to emerge all over other parts of the world, mainly in Japan in the aftermath of the Inoki - Ali fight.
In the US, the UFC was the first MMA promotion and one of the owners at the time was Rorion Gracie.

Rorion...thank you. I kept trying to think of what his name was. I kept thinking it was Royler but I knew that wasn't right.

Tito, Rashad, Sylvia, Serra, Bonnar.
Respect them all, except for Rashad.
