Does anyone know why Ryan Gracie hasn't fought since Shockwave '04?

Does it have anything to do with how he took a swing at the ref?

The guy's a jackass, but he's still one of the more entertaining of the Gracies.

No, I don't think it had anything to do with that. The ref didn't even card him for that or anything.

I think it had more to do with his personal problems. He had run ins with the law, and also reportedly accidently shot himself in October of 2005. He had to get blood transfusions and all that.

Who did Wandy defeat to become PRIDE Middleweight Champ? did they just put the strap on him and proclaim him as champ, or did he defeat another champ, or did they proclaim him as champ after he won the mwgp

Wanderlei defeated Sakuraba to become the PRIDE MW Champ at PRIDE 17 in 2001. The 1st PRIDE MW GP didn't take place until 2003, which was 2 years after he won the title.

Correct. Following the fight Sakuraba gave Wanderlei his SAKU belt. Wanderlei promised him a rematch also. They fought again after that in the 2003 PRIDE MW GP. They were supposed to fight a 4th time at Shockwave 2004, but Sakuraba got injured in training, and was replaced by Mark Hunt.
