What's the news on Brock Lesnar?
This was some hot discussion a couple months ago...but I haven't heard anything about Brock since then. Does anyone know what he's up to, who he's training with, when he's making his debut, if he actually IS making a debut?

Well he signed a deal with K-1 Hero's. He was supposedly training with Minnesota Martial Arts Academy under Greg Nelson who is coach to Sean Sherk and also with Minnesota head assistant wrestling coach, Marty Morgan. Then when they announced back in August that he would have his first MMA match in February 2007, Royce Gracie announced that he would serve as Lesnar's trainer. So basically we are just waiting till more info from K-1 Hero's i'd imagine.

- I had the pleasure of attending an MMA seminar conducted this past weekend by Pat Miletich that was hosted by the Mixed Martial Arts Academy of Philadelphia (where I train). Pat conducted a Q&A session at one point and I had the chance of asking him about former NCAA and WWE (should I be using both in the same sentence?) Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Miletich confirmed that Lesnar had indeed spent some time in Iowa at the MFS training center. When I asked whether Lesnar had a future in MMA he looked at me as if I was high (for the record, I wasn't). I re-clarified the question by saying he obviously had the wrestling skill but asked whether he had the other skills needed to succeed? Miletich indicated that Lesnar's standup was pretty good and that he was surprisingly light on his feet for such a big guy. He concluded the answer by saying, "The guy is scary." Lesnar is currently training with the University of Minnesota wrestling team in preparation for his K-1 Hero's debut sometime in early-2007.

Yea I've always known that Lesnar's athleticism is off the charts. The guy is soooo fast on his feet, and extremely agile for a man his size. Not to mention he learns new things and soaks them up like a sponge. I see Brock Lesnar doing something in MMA very similar to what Mark Kerr did back in the day, only much better. Thanks for the info btw.

I think brock lesner could very well be a serious contender at HW, but seriously i would like to see him get into another org other then K-1, something more well rounded and mainstream. If he learned some good stand-up and a submission game he could very well be fedors first loss..... in like 3 years or something

The only problem with people coming from professional wrestling is that it has probably been a while since they were in an actual fight, if ever. The men are huge and very athletic and their cardio is superb, but most have not been punched in the face for 15 years or longer. Brock Lesnar did win an Olympic gold medal but it was many years ago, and last I saw him following a UFC Unleashed show on a TNA broadcast, he didn't look in very good shape. His arms were small and it seemed whatever neck surgury he had took a toll on his physical conditioning.
The pro wrestler guys are big and strong and most know their wrestling, but you just don't know how those people will respond when faced with real kicks and punches. I remember in the last Pride show a pro wrestler was knocked out by Butterbean in about 40 seconds. The thing about Brock Lesnar is that he does have that real experience in the Olympics, even if long ago (1996 or something).
You have to worry about Lesnar's neck injury and what would happen to him if he was tossed around like Randleman did to Fedor.
