Why does everyone think Vera is great?

I dont really think he is as good as everyone is making him out to be. He hasnt fought anyone good. Frank Mir is probably his greatest accomplishment but he isnt that great anymore. KO AA and then ill say he is the number one contender for the Title.

I think he's good and maybe the word "overrated" was the wrong word to use for Vera but he has not been truly tested so maybe some are hyping him way too much way too soon.

As usual Rockx has hit the nail on the head.

He has an impressive record in which he has decisively finished all of his fights, there's not much more he can do over and above that.

I dont think it's necessarily thats he's a fantastic fighter now, more that he has HUGE potential to become a really big force in the HW or the LHW division both of which he can easily compete in. Im looking forward to see how he develops as a fighter.

The reason he is the number one contender for the HW title is because he has clearly shown the ability to finish a fight regardless of his oppenents fighting style. Therefore, because he creates a level of excitement for the fans because he doesnt go to a decision (much like GSP or Liddel) he deserves a shot.

I think everyone is excited about Vera because the HW scene is so hurting in UFC... Even though the champ keeps winning, no one wants to see him fight anymore... they just want to see him lose... and I'm one of them.

Even though Vera hasn't fought top guys in the UFC... he's destroyed the mid level guys he's fought so far, and that stands for something. I'd like to see a fight with AA or maybe Monson ( the last guy Sylvia fought)... and then sick him on Sylvia.

I don't think it's necessarily Brandon Vera that is getting the hype. The way I perceive Vera is as a hope...or even a savior for a very lackluster UFC HW division. It really could be anyone, but Vera is it right now much like Chieck Kongo was for a few weeks lol. If Cro Cop makes the move to the UFC, I doubt you will hear anymore about Brandon. Not that he isn't a great fighter, just that the focus will be shifted.
