Dissapointing 2006
Who in your opinions had an outstanding 2005, only to be complete dissapointments in 2006? The two I can think of is Andrei Arlovsky and David Louisoue. What are your thoughts?

What about Rich?? He should have finished the Crow many times and sustained enough injuries to keep him out of the Octagon for 7 months. Add in his defense against Silva and I think you have the winner.
runner up: Pride

I think Pride is a good nomination. They have been having financial troubles, lost their TV deal, lost CroCop, Fedor's hurt foot. It is a valid argument. No one said their events have been lackluster.
I would toss Nate Quarry in the mix. He had a solid run then got KTFO of the UFC.

Yeah i'd say Arlovski has had a dissapointing year, at one point I thought he could be shaping up to become a really world class fighter in the HW division, up there with the likes of Cro Cop and Fedor but then as soon as he was tested, he failed much like earlier in his career, still a great fighter to watch but I dont think he's evolved anywhere near the same way that the others mentioned have.
The other big dissapointment for me was the Real Deal, why they chose those fights is beyond me, very few were actually competitive and most of the resulsts were as good as decided before the fight began. I can understand them trying to use American fighters but at the cost of a competitive fight it was just wrong. With Fedor off of the next card I cant see it getting much better as the only highlight of that card will be Shogun and Gomi which doesnt make for a stacked card.

Yeah AA had a bad year. But 2007 AA will rise to the top only to be knocked down by CroCop but he will still have a better year IMO. Ken Shamrock had a bad year losing embaressingly to Tito twice. Randleman also had a loss plus busted on steroids.

I think the UFC as a whole. There have been good fights, but I think a lot of the title fights didnt live up to the hype. AA vs Sylvia, Chuck vs. Babalu, Tito vs. Ken, etc. It just sucks as a fan when you get all excited for a fight and it is either a boring 5 round descision (AA vs. Tim) or a 1:00 ko (Liddell vs. Babalu)

hughes ended his year on a pretty bad note. started with a solid win over riggs and gracie, only to barely defend against penn and be toppled by GSP. arlovski had it bad too.

yeah, arlovski for sure. the crow, franklin with the injuries and loss, i agree.
and good point, randleman.....and all of the dudes roiding. vetor, bonner. what a disappointment.
but as far as pride goes......it's not the end by all means ya'll. yeah, the end of the year proved to be tough for em. but i think that pride will have a very strong 2007. hell, they still have a majority of the best fighters out there!
