No I don't find it at all odd. You must not have been around for all the Rashad bashing threads going on from the end of his TUF season till his last fight. The exact same things were being said about Rashad. The only other person that I REMEMBER defending Rashad was Afro.

There are ways to pass no matter what Joslin was doing. Koscheck didnt even get half guard and he got stood up everytime he was on top. His GnP sucked too. Actually, I cant say anything about his GnP since I didnt see any of it but I can only assume by the way he was flailing his arms. Who know what the hell was trying to do. Joslin was good on his guard but you can't deny Koscheck was clueless as what he should do.
