Default Could the Monster return to the octagon?

On monday's Beatdown Randleman called in to talk to the boys. He didn't get into the drug test to much since he is awaiting a hearing on the matter. but he did talk about getting into a bit of a tusle with ramoage at the grapplers quest in vegas this weekend. he really sounds like he wants to fight him again. he also has said he's moved from ohio to vegas to start training with people other than hammer house (5 years late imo) he isn't going to practise wrestrling anymore since its second nature. and he is devoting the next year of his life to jujitsu. He doesn't have a deal with Pride and has been going fight to fight with them for awhile. he wants to be the best in the world again. he wants to fight Chuck and Rampage and wants to be the best lhw and hw in the world.

i have always liked the monster and think that he could be all these things. i do feal that he should have started learning JJ years ago. But he is the type or person who should be able to learn at a dapid pace.

With having no contract with Pride, Rampage going to the UFC. Could Kevin be coming back to the UFC??? I think he will. He did great things for them in the past. ANd with the WEC and UFC Zuffa should have plenty of room for Kevin.

Thoughts?

and again all this is based off of the 12/10/06 episode of the "beatdown"

Its possible but I wouldnt expect UFC to offer him much since he's only won 1 of his last 5 fights. His pro mma stats are 16 wins and 12 losses. He does have a history with some of the UFC fighters though like Liddell... and if I'm not mistaken he is boys with Liddell which certainly doesnt hurt. Also if UFC does get CroCop it may help too as Randleman and him have a history as well. They could build up a fight based off CroCop/Randleman 1 when he KO'd CroCop and then CroCop submitted him int he rematch... they could setup the tie breaker in a CroCop/Randleman 3.

After his fake urine test, I can't see UFC touching him with a ten foot pole. His won/loss record doesn't justify someone worth taking a risk with such controversy around him.

Yeah, his loss record just isnt appealing eventhough he's fought top competitions. I see him maybe going to WEC but not the UFC. He is a great fighter and a nice mix of character in the UFC but he's been around bu hasnt done much recently. He just piled up loses against top competiton. He should have gone out of the Hammer House long long time ago. Amazing how stubborn those guys are to what they do with so many top one dimensional fighters.

the monster could come back to the UFC if he really improves. he needs solid ju jitsu if he wants to take people down all the time.

I think Hammerhouse may be mixing psychadelics with their bull testosterone injections. They're wacked, and should probably stay in the Pride circus.

UFC offered him a deal before he signed for the Shogun fight at the real deal, but he lost pretty bad in that fight and failed the urine portion of a urine test, so i dunno if UFC would take a chance on him. i think he could make things exciting in LHW, and wouldn't mind seeing Monson tap him or Arlovski KOing him at HW, but i doubt it'll happen.

I agree, i think his constant trouble with steroids and lack luster record will make Zuffa shy away from giving him the op to fight for UFC again. I dont think i would risk it i was them.

Default Wrestling and JJ

Randleman has probably avoided jujitsu because a lot of jujitsu is anathema to the wrestling mentality. For example, (this is God's honest truth) I knew a guy from Iowa who actually would habitually turn his infant son bellydown whenever he found the little tike sleeping on his back. A wrestler on the bottom has generally been conditioned all his life to think escape, not submission. And the problem with changing your mindset about a sport so late is that, before you can get better at it, there is a long torturous period of adjustment where you skill level actually gets a lot worse.

I am a life long wrestler and I cann attest to say working off my back is a very tough thing to do and 10 years later after BJJ and Sambo my first instinct is to get to my base and escape or reversal...those equal death in submission fights most of the time.

As far as Monster...too much steriods and bad press for this guy. I don't see UFC giving him a shot.
