Hopefully Sylvia beats Vera
Now that go your attention....
Trust me I'm no big fan of Sylvia. Their is just something about the guy that makes us all just not really like him. I do respect his though and believe he can fight. Even with him sitting on his heals his last 2 fights.
But this is how I see it. As much as I like Vera he needs to loose to Sylvia. I believe in loosing to Tim we as fans will all make out because its going to force the UFC to go out and buy 2 or 3 top HW's. If Vera wins - which is not the lock you all think it is- it sets up more rematches and the next year of HW fights in the UFC will continue to suck. Tim's got alot of fights and has fought his share of heavy hitters in his day. Vera could fold him, or Vera could wake up the Tim we saw fight guys like Cabbage.
Vera doesn't have that many fights and as good as he's looked so far in the UFC, I'ld put him maybe in the top 15 in the world. Maybe he prooves me wrong. But him loosing forces Dana to buy a few proven world class fighters. Dana doesn't want Tim wearing that belt ess then all of us.

i agree 100%, and i do think vera might beat sylvia, but i would still have to give sylvia the edge. Alot of people seem to think vera the best.
He still has a lot to prove, hasn't really fought a top quality fighter, but he is good.

Yeah that is a good theory. I think they would cycle AA, Vera, Sylvia for the next year though. But if Vera loses he will drop to lhw, which he may do anyway.

You know, I didnt think of it that way but you might be right. I was thinking that a new champ would rejuvinate the division, and still would. But new talent would have the same effect and provide so many more new matchups.

Why would they go and hire top level competition to fight Sylvia rather than continue to hype up C-level fighters to feed to their champions? I hope Vera wins, watching Vera whoop C-level fighters is a lot more entertaining than watching Sylvia jab all day no matter how tired his C-level opponents are.

After Vera vs Sylvia what fights are left in the HW division?????? If Vera wins then maybe AA, but even then whats after that. Zuffa has to bring in to level fighter into HW. A deck of cards with 4 cards can only be shuffled around so many times.

The UFC is wanting to get more talent for the HW division. It has already been reported that they are in talks with A. Emelianenko. Hopefully, they will pick him up as well as a few more. They will be bringing in several "big names" in the near future if they want to stay ahead of Pride in America.
I for one will never see how Vera losing would be a good thing. Vera will be a far more entertaining champ. It hurts to think about Too Tall Timmy keeping the belt longer than March 3rd.

I don't agree with the post, however I see a nasty trend in the UFC. They are trying to take 2nd and 3rd rate fighters and make them household names by using that stinking "REALITY" show. Please. The best fighter out of the whole series is Sanchez and he's 4th in his division at best. Then, they bring out the JOB SQUAD on the last series and try to sell tickets on a bunch of has-beens who blew their wad last time. Let Vera win and sit back and watch Timmy get kayoed again. Then watch Vera and AA swap leather 2 times. After that is out of the way, maybe we will get a good matchup. Until then, watch K1 and Pride.
