I'm confused in what they are how they differ and how their shown. Yeah, tournaments, I got that, but I don't "get" what they are or the difference. They put one on, but it takes days to do, I don't get it. Are they seperate shows or are they specials or what?
Sorry for not getting pride on tv.

just stick to TUF buddy, it's less confusing. In all seriousness though. GP's are tourneys that take place over a few events. They usually have the Semi-finals and finals on the same night though. It's usually the best of the best in each weight class.
Bushido was originally a spin-off of PRIDE's "best of" series. This featured fighters that weren't as known in Japan. They would have the shows in smaller arenas. They changed it to "Bushido" in 2003. Bushido featured some of PRIDE's smaller fighters(LW,WW), and some of their up and coming MW and HW fighters. Guys like Gomi, Aleksander, and Shogun started their PRIDE careers in Bushido. At Bushido 7 they switched it to just the smaller fighters. Since then it's been just LWs and WWs, besides the occassional Minowa freak show match.
*edit* oops chungt79 beat me to the punch

Uh, there is going to be one GP per year. It's just each division will only be having one GP every four years. That means 2007 = HW, 2008 = LHW, 2009 = MW, 2010 = LW, 2011 = HW, and so on and so forth. And that was just an example, it's not going to actually happen in that order...

before they announced these changes there was gonna be a MW(LHW) and LW GP this year. I wonder what they are gonna do about that. I was looking forward to both. I do think having 2 a year is a little much, but PRIDE's MW and LW divisions are my favorites. If they are gonna just do one, I'd rather see a LWGP this year. It's a more loaded division, and the match ups could be amazing. Having 1 GP a year is much better, and cuts down on the non-title defenses.

because their cards from top to bottom destroy the UFC's IMO. I still watch both religiously, as most hardcore MMA fans do.
UFC having so many events doesn't make it better. It actually makes their cards thinner as they have to spread their top fighters out through every event.
