Default New Blood...

The UFC needs new blood...like Anderson Silva [who dismantled Franklin]...GSP has struck fear in the hearts of many fighters...watching the same fighters over and over gets boring...there are to many rematch fights...Dana White may think he has a monopoly...but there are other MMA organizations...PRIDE...Strikeforce...Bodog...UFC beware!

The UFC continuously brings in new blood. Rematches are good if given for the right reasons. I think a champ who loses in the ring deserves one chance to get back his belt.

All of these rematches had good reasons (for the most part0

Chuck vs Randy. Chuck worked his way back up and EARNED the rematch and won. The rubber match is probably the most watched fight in MMA history. Your argument is only good if the second fight ends the same as the first with the loser not earning the right to fight again

So if Hughes gets a rematch and beats GSP, GSP should be given a chance to get back his belt? So we will have GSP-Hughes4? If that becomes the case, we will ALWAYS end up with 3 fight series in a championship fights.

If UFC had depth, they wouldnt have to keep doing repeat fights. HW and LHW of UFC cant create any new matchups and that is sad indeed. I mean, think about who Chuck would fight if he beat tito. Think who Sylvia would fight? If Sylvia loses to Vera and Vera loses to Arlovski, will we have fourth Sylvia-AA fight? Or is Sylvia screwed in becoming a champion again as long as AA is the champ? There just arent any matchups in the UFC because of lack of fighters.

some of the rematches do indeed get stale. but some them are awesome. i think that most of us were waiting a long time to see gsp/hughes 2. i myself am very excited for tito/liddell 2. but at the same time ......i am getting tired of chuck doing nothing but rematches.

as far as the ufc being aware of competition, pride yes. they need to step it up because pride has some SERIOUS competition on them. but as far as strikeforce, bodog, etc, .....don't really think that is to much to beware of.

I dont' mind rematches or anything, it adds drama and reason for the fight to take place. Especially to the newer fans who have never heard of anybody before.

I don't mind rematches as long as the loser deserves it.

Traditionally, the third event in a series of events is commonly known as a "rubber match." This takes place when each person or team scores a victory over the other, causing a third and final confrontation to take place in which a definitive winner is determined.

See also:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria Vs Heath Herring 1,2
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria Vs Fedor Emelianenko 1,2,3 (all of which were wins by Fedor. Why not stop after two. Fight three mad no logical sense at all.)
Paulo Fihlo Vs Akira Shoji 1,2
Mirko Flipovic Vs Josh Barnett 1,2,3 (Again. all three fights going to Mirko).
Wanderlei Silva Vs Kazushi Sakuraba 1,2,3

See, all promotions do it, not just UFC. There are MANY more than thre ones listed, I just wanted to bring those to your attention.
