Default Ring Vs. Cage Solution...

I prefer fighting in a Cage but from a fans point of View, Especially live, the ring is so much better to see action and actually know what is going on.

My idea is to combine the two, and do an eight sided ring, much like the six sided ring used in some Pro wrestling events now, instead of having 3 ropes like in Wrestling you would have to add a couple ropes and go with at least 5 ropes for the safety of the fighters, added padding on the turnbuckles and other things that would add to the safety.

They only people that could get this done is the NSAC but i don't think they would mandate it, and the UFC will not do this willingly, but i think Pride might because it would make the ring bigger and i think it would attract more fans.

The ring would look much like this, but with eight sides, more ropes, and petter padding at the corners.

Thoughts?

I don't really like this idea whatsoever.

I say you either go completely with the cage or square ring, no middle ground.

I think that ring sucks in pro-wrestling and I definitely think it would suck in MMA. I like the ring and the cage and I think both should be used. The obvious problem with the cage is the blatant fence grabbing that goes on, but it's mainly a problem because the refs don't do anything about it (Sylvia/Silva).

Rings suck. Did you see the Rampage vs. Sakuraba fight. Rampage was in an arm bar, couldnt escape. So he tries to throw Sakuraba out of the ring. So of course the ref jumps in and repositions them in the middle of the ring. Rampage is saved........Bullshit!

I find the ring to be more distracting opposed to the octagon. The ropes are too bright and get in the way.
