More people watch the fights on TV then at the arena, and the cage looks a lot better on TV. And the restarts in the ring are pretty much lame because they usually kill all momentum in the fights. Plus you get bullshit situations like in the Sakuraba/Smirnovas fight.

Hey no need to jump on the guy about this. It's way better than some of the other ideas I've heard around here. Like using plexiglass instead of chain link for the cage. Honestly, I don't care whether it's a ring or a cage as long as the fight is good. You get a bunch of bull with both. Repositions in the ring and cage holding to avoid takedowns.

UFC will sell out whether they use octagon or cage, same with PRIDE and their ring. I like the two being different.

Live I'm sure the cage isn't the greatest, but hey....I doubt I'll ever be there to see one live anyway, lol. And if it was really bad for viewing it would have been changed by now.

I love the ring. Hate the octagon.

Too bad PRIDE already came up with this idea six years ago and it failed

Quote:
In 2002, PRIDE launched The Best, a series of shows featuring up-and-coming fighters, using an eight-sided roped ring. However, after the third show in October 2002, the series was discontinued.

To me the octogan is the better option to get the better fight. Nothing wrong with the ring though but, there is a transition from one to the other. Ask Shogun and CC.

I'd rather watch a live event that had a ring. Easier to see whats going on without having to look up for screens.

I've sat really close one time for a UFC event and IMO the closer you are the worse the view. Yeah I want blood stains when I leave but not seeing the fight when its on the ground at the completely opposite side of the cage, then you have to either keep looking up or down to view the big screen just to see whats going on is not worth it. I also sat in the 200's and those are by far the BEST SEATS. It feels like tv. The angle and elevation to the ring is really good.

I've only been to Mandalay bay so I dont know how the setups are else where.

anyone want to make guesses on which event this was??
