Whatever happened to Silva -v- Chuck ?
Hi folks
New to the forum, from Scotland and a BIG fan of UFC....
Can someone please tell me though, a few weeks back Dana White announced that Vanderlei Silva was going to come to the UFC to challenege Chuck for the belt providing that Chuck got past Babalou...which he did....
The two squared up in the ring, and White said the fight would be sheduled for November......so where did all that go ?? Was it bull ?
Thanks
Michael

Welcome. Well basically both UFC and Pride keep going back and forth mainly over money and if the fight will take place in the UFC or Pride. Dana pulled Wand and Chuck in the cage hyping a match that didnt even have a contract signed so that was just stupid and a tease basically. Pride planned it well getting mass attention directed there way by doing that too. Then more recently Wand went in the ring at the last Pride event saying he wants Chuck so its just back and forth shit and its getting old. There's good ol politics for you haha.

Welcome Michael
Welcome MichaelG from Scotland,
We have found that we can’t trust anything Dana White says. I personally think both fighters want the fight to transpire, and for some reason, I think Pride is more willing to arrange the fight that Dana White/Zuffa/UFC is. So, we’ll just have hope for the best and anticipate the fight takes place at some point in the future.

and it needs to happen soon because Chuck isn't getting any younger...
But I dont see how Chuck can make this happen alone without the help of both organizations.

Precisely. Chuck is on top right now, and I frankly don't see him budging in the near future, but if this fight is going to happen, it needs to happen while both men are still in their relative primes.

The fight encountered certain problems.
Possibly the main one being that Cro Cop swung that big left leg of his into Wandys head. This was close enough to the proposed date of the Chuck fight to cause massive problems with getting the fight sanctioned and the fighters insured for a fight in America. Kind of silly on Pride's part to put Wandy in a fight vs some1 like Cro Cop that even if he had won that fight, there was gona be enough damage to Wandy to cause problems with sanctioning in America.
Another factor is that Dana White wanted to sign a 3 fight deal with Wandy rather than just the one night only. Something to do with what Chuck signed previously when he went to Pride for the tournament that would have involved more than the 1 fight.

No. That wasn't even a minor problem, let alone the main one. UFC stated the fight wouldn't happen before the Crocop fight.
