Three events within 24 hours of each other this weekend! It even fits my schedule perfect. Wrapped up the drag racing season last weekend and Modern Warfare 2 doesn't come out until Tuesday, so I won't have shit to do all weekend!
Strikeforce Challengers, November 6 (Fresno, CA) Showtime
Billy Evangelista vs. Jorge Gurgel
Brandon Cash vs. Shane del Rosario
Luke Rockhold vs. Jesse Taylor
Ousmane Thomas Diagne vs. Warren Merritt
Zoila Frausto vs. Elisha Hellspur
Johnny Goh vs. Ben Holscher
Chris Culley vs. Casey Olson
Cole Escovedo vs. Maurice Eazel
Rico Altamirano vs. Luke Riddering
Cash/del Rosario and Evangelista/Gurgel should be good. Rockhold/Taylor could be a good one too. I think a win by Taylor could put him on one of Strikeforce's main cards in 2010.
Sengoku 11, November 7 (Tokyo Japan) HDNet
Hatsu Hioki vs. Michihiro Omigawa
Mamed Khalidov vs. Jorge Santiago
Satoru Kitaoka vs. Jorge Masvidal
Eiji Mitsuoka vs. Kazunori Yokota
Stanislav Nedkov vs. Kevin Randleman
Akihiro Gono vs. Yoon Young Kim
Yuji Hoshino vs. Marlon Sandro
Dave Herman vs. Jim York
Ronnie Mann vs. Shigeki Osawa
Ryota Uozomi vs. Yuichiro Yajima
Hirokazu Konno vs. Tomoaki Ueyama
Shortly after Strikeforce Challengers wraps up on Showtime, flip it over to HDNet to see the live broadcast of Sengoku XI from Tokyo. Kitaoka/Masvidal should be really good. Two bright prospects for Sengoku, Khalidov & Nedkov, will get stiff tests from veteran fighters. Plenty of good fighters on the card, just not a lot of name recognition in North America.
Strikeforce, November 7 (Chicago, IL) CBS
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers (HW title fight)
Jake Shields vs. Jason Miller (MW title fight)
Gegard Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio Silva
Marloes Coenen vs. Roxanne Modafferi
Jeff Curran vs. Dustin Neace
Shamar Bailey vs. John Kolosci
Deray Davis vs. Mark Miller
Nate Moore vs. Louis Taylor
Jonatas Novaes vs. Christian Uflacker
Of course Fedor/Rogers is the big one, but Shields/Miller should be very interesting from a technical standpoint. Shields has a stellar ground game, but Miller's never been submitted, not even by Jacare (who's better on the ground than Shields). Silva/Werdum will be an interesting matchup with the winner possibly in line to fight the Fedor/Rogers winner. Watching Mousasi beat the tar out of Sokodjou should be fun as well. Hope they show the Coenen/Modafferi fight on CBS.
