Took the words right out of my mouth. Instead of Tim or Monson fighting to win, they both just look like they were trying "not to lose." Although I was impressed by Tim holding his own on the ground. All in all, boring fight.

Tim was pretty much running and dodging the takedown without trying to get an offense of his own going. It was as if he said, "If I avoid him long enough I will win". He could of atleast attempted to mount an offense of his own that didn't come from monson's failed attempts to get into his guard.
Tim was running scared this entire fight and Monson was basically shooting in recklessly deciding from the start that taking Tim to the ground would be his only way to win. He even gassed in the process. He showed us ground game on a tired, desperate, and gassed out opponent, big deal.

Watch the fight again, Tim was walking Monson the entire fight, and Tim controlled the center of the octagon every single round. Jeff was the one backing up for 5 rounds.

Overall I have to agree, Tim Sylvia was very impressive showing a whole new dimension not only with an excellent sprawl, but by showing he has what it takes on the ground.
Despite these impressive skills, I was dissapointed with Sylvia. Particularilly if u look at the last round, he said after he wasn't tired, but he wasnt doing anything in that round. I don't care if you already have the fight in the bank, at that point monson posed little to no risk and sylvia could have easily finished him. And I don't think you can say he followed the game plan to the T, because he said himself at the end he would of liked to finish it....SO WHY DIDNT HE? Is this what we can expect from sylvia as a champ, using impressive skills to do the bare minimum to win a fight???
I was a Tim hater before the fight, but for a different reason than I dislike him now. I hope vera KTFO of him.

Why should Tim bring it in the 5th? If he would have and got caught in an arm bar you guys would have been saying "Tim should have just stayed away he had the fight won"...
Tim played it just right IMO.

How would Tim get caught in an armbar by somebody who could barely take him down let alone submit him when he was fresh. At that point Tim was alot fresher than Monson. No wonder everybody was booing him after the fight.

For all the people you can't fathom disrespecting Tim Sylvia, it's equally confusing to see why he gives you such a boner.
I dislike Tim Sylvia as a person, and his style is terrible and full of holes. I respect him because he fights, and he did earn a little more by displaying pretty solid take down defense and not getting subbed. But as indicated by the constant booing, he lost a lot of respect by fighting like a pansy and trying to go for a decision.
Say what you will about Tim Sylvia, his striking is horrible. He's just a powerful lanky guy.
Fedor needed to come out and say he wasn't impressed by Tim's performance.

Like I said....too funny......
I'm not even that much of a fan, but I know why people were talking shit about Sylvia, he shows other skills and people still disrespect him...he can't win
