I think Sylvia deserves some respect for his sprawl and ground work, I was impressed. I hate Sylvia in general, but Monson was the guy who had to win that fight and he didn't even try to put him down in the last round. What the hell is the difference if you get knocked out or lose a decision?

beat the master at his own game? I will admit that sylvia showed a dimension of his game that I hadn't seen but IMO it was a dimension that would have been better off kept hidden. It's GSP's night so i'm going to take a page out of his book and say, Tim... "I wasn't impressed with your performance!"
Tim was pretty much running and dodging the takedown without trying to get an offense of his own going. It was as if he said, "If I avoid him long enough I will win". He could of atleast attempted to mount an offense of his own that didn't come from monson's failed attempts to get into his guard.
Tim was running scared this entire fight and Monson was basically shooting in recklessly deciding from the start that taking Tim to the ground would be his only way to win. He even gassed in the process. He showed us ground game on a tired, desperate, and gassed out opponent, big deal.

Fight sucked, Tim's last 2 fights he just sits back on his heals. not bad sprawls and a few sub attempts . impressive to try on someone with monson's resume but nothing that made me say wow. i expect any mma fighter to be able to show some jujitsu. dana needs to bring in a guy from japan to bring it to sylvia

No matter what the guy does, he'll never beable to win with alot of you guys..........the guy fights a nearly flawless fight, follows the fight plan to perfection..........and all you guys do is knit-pick.............too funny

Tim impressed me, he worked the gameplan and he had it won by the 5th. Monson couldn't do anything.
I think Vera is going to murder Tim though. Vera is the truth.

sylvia impressed me a good deal. he rolled with monson for like 2 rounds, and on his back and on the top he fought off any kind of positioning for a submission, and managed to try a few attempts of his own, and did much more damage with the GnP.
the fight overall wasnt too exciting, but it showed a good deal of Sylvia's game
