I know you've all heard the rumblings that Chuck Liddell, if he pulverizes Tito and then gets past one or two more challengers, is going to move up to HW. Just wanted to see who you guys think would make an interesting first fight for him.

Depending on availability, I'd go with AA...say what you want about his chin, they both are world-class strikers and I think it'd be a fight to watch.

AA would be too dangerous of a fight at HW, Chuck isnt a natural HW to equal AA in size he'd have to put on 40 lbs.. then hes fighting a guy with a lot of power, and he moves around better then Chuck does, his boxing is better then Chucks.. too dangerous.. i'd go with Vera whos a small HW anyways.

I agree liddell and arlovski would be a good fight, but I think the reach would prob give arlovski the adv. I'd also like to see liddell and vera I don't care if its at lhw of hw.

I say Tim Sylvia, Iceman will knock him out and then hopefully we won't have to listen to Tim run his incompetent mouth anymore.

It may seem a little early for that, but hey why not cut thru the lame HW divsion bs and get to the good stuff?

I'm almost inclined to agree, but I think he needs at least one fight at HW to get him ready or simply to prove himself. AA might be too dangerous for him, but I would like to see him and Vera, depending on Vera's status at that point.

By the time he moves up, the HW landscape could look very different; Monson or Vera could be champ, and we'd likely see a Liddell/Monson 2. Then again, if A. Emelianenko hops on over here, things'll really get shaken up. Generally I believe Chuck could hold his own at heavyweight (he beat Monson a while back, though I think that fight was at LHW), but I'd have to see him in action against a quality competitor from that division to be completely convinced.

it comes down to money, liddell is a money maker for ufc, and everyone wants to see what he can do in hw so dana would just give him a title shot because that would mean more money, lhw champ chuck liddel steps up to challenge the hw champ , can he be the first to hold to belts in 2 different classes, that would sell and dana knows it, same if matt beats gsp then moves to mw he would get a title shot right way because it means money

I think the term "world class" gets used far too loosely. I wouldn;t call either a world class striker. When I think world class striker I think of Cro Cop, A. Silva, Hunt, Kang and Manhoef.

There are lots of great strikers but I wouldn't call them "world class" as they do not possess the aspects of world class strikers .

That being said, there are a lot of peopel that would give Liddell a a difficult fight and I would assume Liddell SHOULD be the underdog vs AA, Sylvia and Vera (some may think me saying Vera is a bit of a reach, but trust, the guy is phenomenal).

I agree with most that if Chuck moved to try his hand in a HW bout he'd get a title shot right away. It doesnt matter what we think, Dana knows that'd be a huge buy rate plus Chuck's mentality is that he will fight anyone. A Liddell vs Monson would have a good story behind it since Liddell beat him a while back. Randy had the HW and LHW belts so thinking Liddell could do the same is not too far fetched at all.
