He said in the interview that he thought being on the outside of Silva's punches and kicks would be a bad idea and he thought that he could use his strength to man handle Silva in the clinch. On the rematch, do you think that he will stick to that game plan again or will he try his best to stay out of the clinch? I am sure that he is going to hire the best Thai fighter to train with now, but i am curious to see what his game plan will be.

Insert Ryo Chonnan game plan here.

Rich or anyone facing A Silva needs to be able to handle a punch and break the clinch, because he is so accurate that he is going to f-ing hit you and his MT clinch is too strong.

If I were Rich I would run around the ring and stay out of the clinch, try to get the mental advantage over Silva by making him miss or taking his punches at range and run out of trouble.

Then get him tired and shoot on him taking him to his guard, but then you must avoid his gaurd submission and kicks.

Again i point at Ryo Chonnan.

I know his belt status but I have heard that his BJJ may not be at that level.

Default Rich's loss

I always thought Rich was a top fighter, but Silva totally owned him, and that's been the big questionmark in my mind since the fight. How can such a great fighter (as I thought Rich was) lose so handily? I mean, he was stuck in that clinch for the better part of a minute. He looked helpless, like a fly caught in ointment. I haven't given up on him, because he's never been one of my favorite fighters, but questioning his motivation, in my view, is a perfectly valid way to explain what happened.

B*tch Franklin is a bum. He should be fired until he learns how to get out of a clinch.

What do you expect when you only make peanuts for risking your life for the entertainment of some drunkard obnoxious f*cks and a piece of sh*t boss who could give two sh*ts if you live or die, just as long as he gets a nice cheque? Welcome to MMA!

Even though I don't give a crap about Rich Franklin, nor did I ever, I feel bad for him. Not only is he badly underpaid, he has to take a physical beating and his rep is tarnished. And he's probably no longer motivated to fight in MMA under the VERY bad contract Dana's trapped him in. I think he'd be better off going back to teaching 3rd grade. Why get your nose and ribs broken for nothing?

I'm saying he should go back to teaching because it's safer and pays just as good as the UFC. Plus it's better for his health in the long run. Teaching pays very well, a good teacher can make up to $60,000 per year. Rich Franklin makes what per fight? $20,000. He fights maybe once or twice a year? Do the math!
