Cael was the best College (folkstyle) wrestler of all time... John Smith was the greatest Freestyle wrestler in US history. 2X Olympic Champ, 5X FILA World Champ, 2X World Cup champ, 6X US Champ, 2X Goodwill games champ, 1X Pan AM Champ, and 2X NCAA champ
okay gotcha!
but then if we're talking about all those other accolades then shouldn't baumgartner be ahead of John Smith? Is there a reason you put Smith ahead of Baumgartner too then?

So how can you tell Penn doesn't have better kicks, then? He might have the greatest fucking kicks in the whole fucking world, and just because you haven't seen them, you feel fucking entitled to judge him?
Kidding. This post is a parody of the "GSP doesn't have a weak guard" argument of last night.

It's more then just accomplishments. He is considered to have the best single leg takedowns of all time and he also beat Sergei Beloglasov 2 out of 3 times.
If you have a good argument for Baumgartner being a better wrestler (besides being a 4X Olympic Medalist) I'm open to hearing it.

No I'm not trying to say that Baumgartner is a better wrestler. I'm actually asking you instead.
I know it is more than accomplishments but accomplishments is a very good indicator of where you stand. Baumgartner was more decorated internationally and dominated his weight class for a longer period of time. I know the 4x olympic medalist is probably used by many people but it is important because he was the first american to be an olympic medalist in 4 consecutive olympic years. I do definitely think that Smith had better technique but then again I think that majority of the time the lighter weight class wrestlers are better technicians.
That's why the world championships, olympic medals, and pan am championships are a good way standardized indicator of how wrestlers from two different weight classes compare.

- You train ... high-five
- Fighters improve over time
- Anything can happen in a fight
- Just because you like a fighter, doesn’t mean he will win
- MMA is hard to predict
Sorry, bub, but this isn’t exactly a newsflash to me or probably anyone on here. I’ll pick a guy to win a fight for any reason I see fit and won’t give a shit what anyone thinks about the prediction ...
... I got GSP by decision again because I think his cardio is better, he’s bigger, stronger, quicker, more explosive, and more athletic than BJ Penn—basically I think he’ll outlast BJ in a fight for the ages. Neither will be able to finish the other guy in my opinion. All under the condition that ... I could be wrong.
Then what was the reason for people coming out the wood work, whom I never pointed out who was doing what, to make personal attacks based on my opinion of an entire forum? ::Shrugs:: But thank you for joining.

Baumgartner was like Couture is in MMA... he isn't the best of all time but he was successfull for the longest period of time.
Of course it's all debateble on who the best US freestyle wrestler is of all time, but most will tell you it's Smith or Gable and some will tell you it's Dave Shultz. Maybe I'm biased because I got to watch Smith wrestle throughout his prime, but I'm sticking with him as the best of all time.

Have you seriously never posted on a forum before? How can anyone be so offended at other people relplying to their posts? I wasn't even being negative in my fist few replies until you made some random comment about how my gf was cheating on me.

haha Couture wasn't successful for the long period he was in. He was active for a long time in the title picture (the grandest stage in MMA) but continually traded wins and losses.
Baumgartner was always in the grandest stage and repeatedly delivered. Also, having tied with the same amount of world/olympic championships as Karelin (probably the greatest greco wrestler of all time) is an amazing sign itself.
I'll definitely have a harder time arguing this though, your knowledge in amateur wrestling (from what I've noticed in the last 2 years) is top notch and the best on the forums.

You are such an ignorant moron... you really think 18 year old kids here in the US get Black Belt everyday? Even Brazil that is not a normal occurance. If you had recieved your black belt at age 19 there would be some news on it somewhere online.
can you do everyone a favor and make some sense when you post?
I'm not doubting you trained with Popovitch... I just know he has never promoted a 19 year old black belt.
Debate like a man? Like making up bullshit unrealistic facts about myself and then get caught in my own bullshit?
I never once mentioned rank and infact I was talking about MMA and not BJJ...
I have never encountered a BJJ black belt that outright made a point of telling everyone they were a black belt. It's called being insecure and needin attention... even if it's from a bunch of people you will never meet with over the internet.
You are giving me shit claiming I don't know who Popovitch is and you think that picture of John Smith (the greatest Freestyle Wrestler in US history) is me? Lol... thanks for proving my point little boy.
Lol, because I replied to your jackass disoriented post you think I actually thought it was directed to me? It's a forum... if you make a post directed at the forum in general don't be suprised if some replies to it.
Lol, I love people like you.. "Can't stop posting. I can't stop myself from logging and posting bullshit... Please delete my account for me! Please!"
Rivet, please don't ban this guy... I am having way too much fun with him.
Fact is you don't who he is, when you should since you claim to know so much about MMA in general, and he trains ALOT of big time fighters. Where did I train with him? Well, sir it'd be back in 2004 in FT Lauderdale when I received my black belt under him. It'd be all over the news? Do you realize how many train at younger ages and receive their black belts at the age of 18-19 because they have to WAIT until they receive it at that age? You're right...It'd be all over the news, hence why any major/mid level star receives it and we find out either in an MMA forum or when a fight takes place that we watch on TV or attend.(i.e. no one knew Dustin Hazelett or Joe Daddy received their black belts not too long ago until these forums or when it was said on the last UFC pay per view that Dustin did). I love how your remarks to what I say seems to be sudden babble over not understanding what I say, but everyone else seems to talk through things with me on an intelligent basis without acting 12(as I have stated before because my little sister does the "I can't understand what you're saying" shit). Oh, look at that...Never knew there was an ignore list. Fun. Might wanna talk to the other guy I reconciled with(and we came to an understanding) because he has my "proof" that you claim to be oh so a lie. Good-bye.
