UFC Looks to Lindland

Inside sources have informed us that the UFC has contacted Matt Lindland to face their new Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Lindland's takedown skills and ability to take out top strikers have the UFC intereseted in a matchup between him and the Brazilian standup ace. After defeating Jeremy Horn and barely losing a razor thin decision to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Matt has become the hot commodity at 185lbs. There are 2 factors impeding the scheduling of this match. Number 1 is that Matt still has a fight left in his WFA contract. The second issue is money. So far the UFC's offers have been considered less than generous compared to what the WFA and IFC have offered him. For Matt to fight in the UFC he will have to completely relinquish fighting in other organizations and he would like to be compensated accordingly.
There will be meetings between Matt and the UFC in the upcoming days to see if these issues can be resolved and if a Anderson Silva vs. Matt Lindland fight can become a reality.

Dana needs to let some air in his wallet and make this happen among other things as well.

Yes someone posted this already, the problem is, Lindland made $70,000 in his WFA fight plus PPV percentage, UFC already screwed him once before so IMO in order to get him back they will have to beat his WFA salary and not just match it. Plus, Lindland enjoys 1 fight contracts, this way he can get paid based on performance and not end up like Rich Franklin as the UFC MW champion making $21,000-$35,000 per fight.

Lindland may accept the UFC's offer but it would have to be on Londland's terms meaning he would make a counter offer to the UFC which would likely consist of a 1-2 fight contract, then a renegotiate, aslo that he would be able to just walk away from them at any point in time once hs contract was up and would be able to do so even if he was the belt holder at the time.

Yes Lindland has hte ability to stop strikers but lets face it, A. SIlva is not just a striker, he is a world class striker, IMO 2nd to only Cro Cop so this is not a typical Lindland striker and I don't see him being able to shut down Silva for an entire 25 minutes.

wow. that's kinda crazy. it's like they are trying to chase anderson silva out?!?! don't get me wrong, i think it'd be a great addition for him to be fighting in the ufc again....just seems crazy like they are grasping @ straws. and hilariously enough, they're totally dissin swick with it!!! why not just feed silva a couple more 185's that exist in the division in the meantime?

since when is Dana White a racist?That's a little ridiculous.There's a lot of bad things to be said about Dana White ,but calling him a racist isn't one of them.Do you have any proof to this ridiculous accusation?

There is no doubt that the UFC needs to bring in more talent at pretty much every division except for Welterweight, and Lindland is on a roll right now and has the ability to beat Silva, but I agree with a lot of other people on this subject that it seems the UFC is trying to move Silva aside. Silva is a great fighter, but there are guys out there other than Lindland who have the ability to beat him, I even felt that Franklin would until I watched him get dismanteled. Lindland is on a roll right now but he isn't going to just walk in a take the belt from Silva.

Silva on the other hand is getting some super hype right now, don't get me wrong his striking is awesome, but he's been beat by lesser competition than Franklin or Lindland in Pride. Chonan is good and all, but I don't see him beating Franklin or Lindland. And yes I know, the competition overall is a step up in Pride from what it is in the UFC, but lets back down from all the verbal masturbation of Silva, he's awesome and on a nice little run but lets leave it at for now.

Lindland SUCKS!!!!!!! Quick Swick should get the shot with his background in muay thai he has the best chance. I dont want to see Lindland's ugly ass get in there and fight and get KOed in two minutes if he could run away that long.
