Things That Suck About Being an MMA Fan
01) Nu-Metal
02) Guys at bars on Fight Nights who are only there to see violence
03) Constantly having to try and convince people that our sport is safer than boxing
04) Explaining grappling to people.
05) "Don't you think it's homo-erotic?"
06) Mention of any fighter in the world is answered with "You think he can beat Chuck Liddell?"
07) Mike Goldberg and the other bad anouncers
08) "Did you see Kimbo fuck that guy up? He's sick."
09) Explaining Cauliflower ear to anyone seeing an event for the first time.
10) Guys who think they are in UFC, and act like it.
can anyone think of anything else?

Since I do not represent every mixed martial arts fan and everyone seems to like Mauro I'm taking his name off the list. I'm it changing it to "... and other bad announcers", that leaves it to the imagination.

8. I just simply say that Kimbo is a baby in the sport and there are guys at a higher level than him. But he is very good for where he is.
9. Doesn't bother me explaining it.
10. People acted like that before the UFC, it just gives them an excuse now.
More than anything, I just don't like dealing with idiots, casual or hardcore. That is the only thing I hate about being a fan of MMA. It attracts a lot of assholes.

7) Renallo gets way too excited, sometimes to the point where he says shit that makes no sense. Not as bad as Mike, but still pretty shitty.

Mauro Ranallo rules dude.
But in general your list is right on.
One thing I find myself disliking is mainstream fans. It's an elitist thing to say and I recognize that; but there are a few friends I'll go to watch a UFC with at BWW and it seems they only know about 3-4-5 fighters and if those guys aren't on the card, yes they enjoy watching it but really don't have a big interest in what's happening.
What about mainstream fans that cannot remember which weight class a given fighter is in?
I guess in general the things that I find suckiest are mainstream/casual fans and their lack of knowledge and interest. If it was only lack of knowledge, but they were interested, then they'd be where we all were at one point - learning. But when they don't really care to learn more than the few things they know, it gets pretty old.

As far as notrightnow's list, I love explaining the grappling to them. Elaborating on the details of the positions, submissions and sweeps is fun and it's way better when they keep wanting to know more. It's a part of educating someone on the sport and I'm glad I could do it.
